I was quite intimidated by the highly-developed hafling team and their high-CR coach, but I also had a large number of handicaps and the natural squishiness of 'flings on my side.
I won the toss and elected to receive. A touchback allowed me to give the ball to an undeveloped black orc. However, my opponent was able to loose the ball from my grip, and headed threateningly towards the touchdown line. Luckily a quick blitz put a stop to this, and by this stage several halflings had been removed from the field. On T8 I tried to make a backfield pass for SPP, but fumbled. This turned out to be a terrible mistake, because my opponent was able to throw over a player, pick up the ball, and score in T8.
In the second half things were looking grim for the orcs, despite my numerical advantage. However, a crucial failed pass sent the ball scattering, and I was eventually able to recover it from the treeman trying to pick up the ball near the touchdown line. As I ran towards the other side of the pitch, my opponent made yet another valiant TTM play, and was able to knock over Garr with a lucky -2db block. Fortunately another player was able to separate the gutsy halfling from Garr, who was able to pick up the ball and run over the line for the equalizer.
The much-deserved MVP went to +MA blitzer Garr, who had obtained +AG and Iron Man via handicap. He was very helpful in extricating the ball from tricky spots.”
