#9 Captain Metropolis mk3 – Smashed Knee (NI)
The Watchmen had been gearing towards this game and went in with a definate plan of attack. Unforunately, our game plan didnt hold up and the Steve's took the team apart in the second half.

Well played Irgy, a well deserved win.

Twahnlows
3 Votes - Mike - Was a constant thorn in the Watchmen's side and always seemed to be there to cause us trouble, including the decisive touchdown.

2 Votes - Steve - We were so busy worrying about Steve and his influence we perhaps worried about him too much.

1 Vote - Bundy - those damn werewolves are the Watchmen's bane, next time we kill them in the first half!!!

A must-win game for the dead, and it started off looking grim. They made no real dent in the Watchmen offense, succeeding only in preventing a stall by getting on top of the biffing situation away from the ball.

It almost backfired, as we faced a smashing first turn of Watchmen defence. Andrew S made a desperate run for it, but it was a lucky throw in form the crowd that kept us in the game. We recovered, and should have scored from there but the positionals tried to pass the ball between themselves and made a total meal of it. 1-0 down at half time.

We were well ahead in cas, but there was no shortage of reserves. The only good thing was that (through sheer luck) the cas were on the skilled players.

The second half though and everything started to go better. We took some risks to get a 2-turner to give us enough time to try and win, and a heroic effort from Andrew S made it happen.

The next drive and the Watchmen (with a bit of help from Steve) left a hole in their line that Mike and one of the ghouls ran through to take out the ball carrier. A few lucky bounces later and we had the ball well and truly secured to stall out for the win.

This time it might have been wise for Mike to pass the ball on, as the td spp have given him a niggle.

Very fortunate in the end, but we'll take what we can get in our effort to stay up for next season.

Twanhlows:
3 Ozymandias mk3 - Most memorable player on the field for me, his firm standing was a constant pest.
2 Bubastis mk2 - A very scary player. Only 1 bonehead fail as well that I can remember.
1 Captain Axis - For being the player who cared enough about the ball to run away and score with it on the first drive.
