#7 Zurgug Dwarfbasher – Serious Concussion (-AV)
The Bulldozers and the Gravel Fist had been trying to schedule this game for a while, but circumstances kept preventing the matchup. Even though the tournament was officially over the morning they agreed to play, the orcs and dwarves decided to go through with the match anyway. The weather was blistering hot, an omen of things to come. The orcs were also without the services of Dunelgash Wolfsbane as a niggling injury flared up.
1st half the dwarves opted to receive, but a Blitz! on the kickoff gave the advantage to orcs. Once the orcs got the ball, they were able to protect it and postpone scoring until T8. They also removed a few dwarves from the pitch, but nothing permanent.
2nd half the dwarves got the advantage as all their KOs came back and they only lost 1 to heat exhaustion. The orcs lost 2, and as they had only started with 12 this was a problem. They decided to get the ball back into their own half of the pitch and hold out for a late game TTM. Unfortunately the dwarves put the pressure on quickly and the Gravel Fist had to attempt the TTM earlier than planned. Gorebag is terrible at TTM, having never succesfully completed one in his career and his 2 attempts this game did not improve his record. At least he didn't eat Kruuk the Canker, who finally managed to get the ball and sit on it. But the numbers were to great and the dwarves were able to get the ball and move towards the endzone on T7. Then inexplicably, Trev Been decided to GFI and fell down. The orcs moved Kruuk and Thrower Xipho Thornhide to cover the ball, but the dwarves were able to shake enough players free to take Kruuk out of the way, and Trev redeemed himself by picking up the ball and scoring.
Great game, fatboy1. Very exciting, though the casualties were lighter than I anticipated. Still, your apothecary worked (preventing a niggling injury) while mine was drunk and didn't save Zurgug Dwarfbasher from taking a -AV.
