#7 Julian Heighton – Fractured Skull (-AV)
Warpstone Open VII - Semi Finals

Facing PeteW Ultimate Mr. Men was a great honor and a real challenge.

1st half
PeteW started attacking. After initial skirmishes we launched Clive Coleman-Nichol jumping in and wrestled Mr Happy and let the ball loose. Then Mr Happy snaked when trying to get the ball so we were able to get it and secure it with Ben 'Lucky' McNair.

PeteW then instructed and ugly guy with a yellow pointy hat to throw a lighting to Ben, but they both ignored that Ben isn't called 'Lucky' for anything. The guy that scored a Larson in his debut match dodged the lighting just to score a turn later. We preferred not to stall and force our luck too much.

PeteW had 3 turns to score advanced to one sided and was cornered there by our guys while Clive did another try this time without success. PeteW decided to stall one more turn not to give us 2 turns to score. Wee 'Willy' Davy had 1d on the ballcarrier with no success. So we finished 1st half 1-1.

2nd Half

We tried to attack patiently while trying to get guys out with our MB's but had no success. At the end we messed it so much that we were forced to cage sideline with Clive and his AG5 leap menacing to score. But 1st we had to survive Mr Happy -2d attempt to surf Clive. We gambled and luck smiled us again.

We settled our specialized anti-OT defense with our 3 sidesteppers and finally got a way with a victory 2-1.

PeteW played great but this time luck was on our side. Now we will face Azure's mighty dwarves in the final.

Thx for the game PeteW

A pretty accurate match report! It was a fun and tense game. Anisdrin neglects to mention that his defense was very sound and difficult to penetrate. In the first half he effectively split my offense, allowing him to make the 1d leap wrestle, and later on, pushed me into a particularly awkward position against the sidelines, making it very tough to stall till T8. In fact, it was only his 1d skull that allowed me to equalise.

The -2d blitz in T17 was painful. The catcher had no SS and wrestle, so all I needed was to avoid a skull. First block was doubnle skulls, then a skull and a push. I wrongly calculated the odds to be 69%. They were 91%. Ouch. That hurts!

Still, I'm probably almsot glad I lost. Anisdrin now gets to be mangled by Azure's horrible dwarfs, whilst my team is intact and gets to return for the UI!!!

Good luck Anisdrin!
