“After the shock of the previous match where a Dwarf tackled down Draknil and gave him his first permanent injury this was another blow as Necrophil, star strong ghoul, was put into retirement by an effective double team from more cursed Dwarfs.
Straight after we kicked off the Trollslayer ripped straight through Ripper and smashed his hand, already ending Ripper's match time. As the Dwarf carrier moved to the middle we crowded around around their centre holding back the tide. But somehow time after time blocks from the Dwarfs, in struggles of seemingly equal strength, led to zombies being flung down or even mummies not able to stay up against a Dwarf. But we kept getting back up. Eventually Switchblade made the most of his chance to bring down te carrier but a Longbeard somehow caught the ball! The Longbeard tried a tough pass but the ball was batted behind him. Alas we couldn't do enough to get round to it. As the half time drew close a runner dodged away from his marker, picked up the ball, dashed forward, did a short pass which his fellow runner in a zombie tackle zone caught(!) and then dodged away to score. Incredible move and the Villains coach sagged seeing the great holding work having failed through a dream move.
Second half Necrophil took the ball and went down the flank. Again the Dwarfs were seemingly remarkably strong and he had to blitz his way through a runner to get a quick td.
On the return, after some thrown rocks, the Dwarfs advanced on one side. Necrophil was blitzed by a Blitzer with Longbeard support and despite his strength and dodging skills was brought down like a collapsed sack of spuds. A cruel blow and his career was ended with a fractured skull.
Soon after Werdna had a great chance to bring down the runner and stop their drive but he blew it. We at least held them up enough though a runner managed a long pass to a dodgy Blitzer. The Faceless Hunter got back to do the final push to keep the Blitzer away from scoring. Another match where we seemed a bit weak though Mumm-ra did earn the team MVP with a hit in the final moments which would have killed a Dwarf if not for good apo work.”
