FUMBBL SMACK Legend CCLIX - Round 1

The 'Saws went into this match reigning legend SMACK champions, having one the last one a long time ago.

I took a card and a bomber over babes, as I was feeling lucky. A rabbit's foot was the reward - Hothammer could use it, I thought.

The Anisdrin's Keroro's Squad quickly scored, albeit the defense was a bit loose. Returning the ball, skillful Slann leaps pierced the 'Saws cage with ease and the scatter was caught by the magic Slaan catcher, which then slipped out of the cage much to my frustration. It wasn't so bad until all other Slann players also got away from their markers. Aztec brought the catcher down, but the scatter was far less kind to me. 0-2 and it was looking bleak.

With Hothammer knocked out, Neymar assumed quarterback duties and did not disappoint - a great long throw to set up 1-2.

I told the players that, just 1 hurt frog so far, more damage was required. They delivered, as 4 more were taken out the game in the 2nd half before a troll foul seriously injured the pest catcher - apothecary fixing the player.

Now it looked bleak for Anisdrin. No rerolls, 7 players at most, and Aztec dancing by the end zone. With overtime almost certain, the Slann magic returned. A whole host of leaps later and Aztec is double marked. Unsure of my best course of action - all options involving risk - I picked on Hothammer to deliver. He was supposed to be lucky, rabbit's foot and all. First go for it failed (rerolled), catch dropped (pro reroll failed) and amazingly the game was lost.

Frustrating stuff as overall I failed a far higher % of 2+ rolls than Anisdrin did 3+ rolls over the game. However, the blame goes to me for leaving the ball too far away from the rest of my team for the last turn. It had gotten to be such a beating by that point that I switched off. Damn!
