The first half was a good one - back and forth, tense moments on both sides. The Pirates looked good, but the Expats broke the cage, then the Pirates pushed back out, then again, and finally the ball was loose. But just as a skink was running for glory and the defensive scoop and score, he was tackled. Another contest, but the ball bounced into the hands of the elf renegade, Turn 7, who passed deep! And then, just as fast, a chainpush and break tackle - pow, stun, 0-0 at the half.

The second half... the blocking dice of the Expats could do no wrong, while the dice of the Pirates just went limp. In range for an uncontested Turn 4 score, they were able to stall until Turn 8 (despite an amazing multiple 5+ Dodge blitz into thick traffic by the Elf ballhawk), knocking most of the Pirates down again and again. And that was the game.

No perms (despite all the MB & a MB/Claw), in fact only 1 Cas on each side - overall, not an "average" game, nor a good test of coaching skill. A rematch is on the horizon, I'm sure.

Just another game of dour dice.

Things did look up twice... 1st half the dark elf took advantage of some clumsy skinks to throw the ball clear. Good play by Smeat however freed up the blitz, 0-0 at half time.

2nd half Smeat got careless and when the skink failed the pick up, it was open. The dark elf steamed through and ended up with the ball. Then *bam* it was brought down at the first attempt (who needs tackle?) and the side never recovered - be it knocking or injuring marauders on failed dodges, or big guys failing to help pressure the ball.

Very *slow* frustrating game. Nothing really went right aside from those 2 moments. Smeat played well enough and I felt I played worse, but when I'm forced to wait the full 4 minutes every turn of his it does really destroy my focus. It is definitely a way to beat me.
