#91 Helmut Wulf – Broken Ribs (MNG)
  1. NWFL Season IX, Pre-season Seeding Game 4 (#4 of 4)

A very, very close game, down to the last no-RR defensive GFI's for the stopping blitz and the responding no-RR 1d blitz for the win.

First half, the 'Sons chose to receive, and pushed their cage up slowly as the Shard Warriors seemed content to take out the Chainsaw and the tackling 'Zerk. End of Turn 4 they turned up the pressure for an early score, but the 'Sons hung in for one more turn, leaving the 'Warriors to receive end of Turn 6. The 'Sons' defense was left flawed when 1 too many GFI's and dodges were needed to finish it, and the a Turn 8 'Warrior Pass tied the score.

Second half neither team found much luck, as various key blocks and rolls failed for both teams, repeatedly leaving the Warriors' screen flawed but the Sons' blitz falling short and their (2) bombs falling with no effect. And meanwhile, more and more key 'Sons players left the field to join the Tackle 'Zerk - an Ulf Turn 4, and the +Ag to start Turn 5.

Then, Turn 5, a Warrior Pass attempt snaked midfield, and this time the dodges and pickup and GFI's all succeeded for Lindisfarne to have a Blodge ballcarrier midfield to end Turn 5! Their bomb had missed affecting 3 Wariors who were barely within GFI range, but the attempt to mark snaked, and the ballcarrier scampered to the 3 yard line to end Turn 6, no Warriors in range. Turn 7 only a Tackling Wight could find a path to threaten, and the 'Sons answered with a blitzing Ulf - who skulled the block.

Turn 16, no RR's, the 'Warriors were able to gfi for the assist and the block, and down the ballcarrier. But to end the game, also no RR's, in turn the lone ballcarrier stood and blitzed away the Wight with a Push, scooped and scored solo for the zero-margin win.

Despite 90 combined blocks, only 2 from each team were BH'd (if 4 more from the 'Sons KO'd), plus the SI'd 'Saw, and no perms for the upcoming season for either team, at which both coaches expressed gratitude to Nuffle.
