A good back-and-forth game, with the underdog Scuttlers tying the game Turn 8 and taking the lead Turn 9. Hard to stop a true OTS player - even harder when your scouting report fails to notice it and your defense sets up expecting to defend against a Push.

The Jags chose to receive a kick near the middle of their half of the field, and the Scuttlers' defense had formed up deep - far too deep to take much advantage of the BLITZ! kickoff result. The DElf's caged up midfield behind the LoS, which soon turned into trench warfare, 2 neat, long lines bashing back and forth at each other across the LoS, with the DElfs pushing forward very slowly as some early Casualties gave them the man advantage. This allowed them to control the field and get some additional casualties, walking in for the Turn 8 score against 5 opponents on the field.

That is when the rats reminded the Jags coaching staff that they did, indeed, have a true OTS 'Runner - tie score at the half, 1-1.

Knowing what they were facing, the Jags encouraged the fast score Turn 9, Scuttlers 2-1.

Only 9 Rats lined up to defend the ensuing Turn 9 kick, having lost their Shadowing-Kicker and MB-Guard-Blodge Blitzer along with a lino. The DElfs pushed a cage up one side of the field (and Turn 2 double-skulled to see their MB-Tackler BH'd, but spent their Apo to guarantee that he returned for the end of the game). A Turn 3 scoring plan went awry when the ball exchange snaked but bounced to the wrong Jag, but position held, and the following Turn 5 effort succeeded, but not before surfing the Kick Off Return GR for a BH; tie score, 5 full turns left, 2-2.

With only 7 Rats taking the field against the full, original DElf roster start of Turn 4, the Jags lined up to try to stop the Ag 4 dodge OTS, and kicked short - and were doubly rewarded, with a kick on the LoS coupled with Perfect Defense. Rats did what rats do best and retrieved the ball and raced back, but not without a RR, and the 1-square Pass(?!) deep was dropped, just barely within extreme GFI range to mark.

The -AV niggled DP rat was (finally!) killed and the LoS rats knocked down or corralled, but the Blitz gfi tripped. Turn 6 the Rats tried an odd backward pass, and were rewarded with an Interception by the star DElf player that had been Apo'd back into the game. The ball was caged at the Rats' 7, and the DElfs used their last RR to surf 2 more players out of the game, leaving only 4 to stop the Jags in 2 turns, including the induced St 4 Star Smashrip, an Ag 4 Block/Wrestle Lino, an Ag 5(!) Leaping GR and the MA 13 OTS GR, and 3 RR to back them up.

However, apparently utterly demoralized at the losses they had taken (altho' that is the story of a typical rat team), no real effort was made to push the game to Overtime, and the Jags enjoyed the field largely unchallenged and walked in to end the game 3-2.
