“It was with a heavy heart Grim Ironbeard, captain of the Iron Guard, led his team off the pitch. His twin brother Dallin had fallen in battle; the pain of his loss was great and the debt owed by the humans would never be forgotten. Following family funeral tradition Grim lead the 100 hour grieving vigil comprising of a great fasting, during which only the deceased favourite ale may be drank (in this case Bugman's Moltenbrew), and only then emerged from Iron Rock (the family home) for the post match press conference.
"So Grim Ironbeard, how do you assess your team's recent win against the Dragons Dauntless?" asked media ace Rover McGuinley. "Kimi's brace was something quite special."
"We all played like a bunch of treehugging hobbits." noted the captain. "We got beaten up by humans - almost as bad as elves. The shame will live long. Brother Dallin tried to hold the line, but he fell and now we are one warrior less. My family's grudge against the humans will live forever, though I may kill a hundred of their kin."
"The match is being lauded as the encounter of the season." enthused McGuinley. "You must be delighted to have snatched a victory against the run of play?"
"Dallin is dead, the win sticks in my throat like a knife."
"I see, and who are you drafting in to replace your late brother?"
"The honour falls to cousin Tholgrim, who has sworn to fight in Dallin's stead. Blood for blood."
"And what have you to say to you opponents who put up such a courageous performance?"
"The Box is not safe for them now." said Grim. "We will hunt them down, we will avenge Dallin."

...Captain of the Iron Guard, Grim Ironbeard is again in mourning after his cousin Tholgrim Ironbeard was killed in action in his first game after replacing his dead brother, Dallin Ironbeard. Now the Norse too have been runed in to the Ironbeard Book of Grudges...

The team entered the draw and were matched against a Dwarf team Coached by Endzone. The look on our lads faces curiously was not of.. "oh heck were all gonna die today" ..as you would expect, no, they were really rareing to go and werent bothered who they were up against.
Iron Guard! won the coin toss and recieved first half. After many blocks thrown\ about by both teams, eventually our Blitzer; 'Michael Wellbright', blocks and puts an end to one of the Dwarves BLitzers; 'Dallin Ironbeard'. This infuriated the other Dwarves and shortly thereafter the Dwarves punch a hole through our defences and in Turn 7, a royal touchdown was made by the Iron Guard's Leading Runner Kimi Cannonball, that Dwarf sure can run!
We had 2 turns left in the first half to make the score even, the odds of making were looking prett good from the get go, Blitzer Gavin Standwell managed to get upfield enough but was he caught the attention of two of the Dwarves, Gavin made a break for it and the pass was made, but it was a Long Pass and failed to miss its mark.
The teams set-up for the second half, the Dwarves were down three players. The players battle in a scrum for a tur, then on the second we decided to try a new tactic. We tried out our new running pass tactic we call "Fork Lightning" ..the setup for the play was correct, the Dwarfs seemed a bit confused by it (which is its design), the execution of the Pass and hand-off didnt quiet goto plan, however due to a failed sprint by 'Grim Ironbeard' of the Dwarves, our Blitzer 'Jamie Hunter' managed to recoverd the ball and score a Touchdown on our turn 4.
The Dwarves Turn 4 drive seen 2 of our players in the KO box, Turn 5 seen Jamie Hunter pushed into the crowd by the Frenzying Troll Slayer 'Max 'the Mad' Moltenbeard'. After 2 more turns of heavy Blocking, Kimi Cannonball made a dizzying dash away from the fight and up the field! Michael Wellbright tried to match the running pace of the speedy little Longbeard, but failed miserably, and with that.. Kiwi scored another Touchdown, bringing the final score to 2-1 for Iron Guard!
