The Miners received in the first half, and managed a perfect slow grind down the field, helped by some key KOs and an apothecaried badly hurt Wardancer on the elf side. Scoring in the final turn, we made sure to keep it 1-0 at half-time.

The elves were unstoppable in the second half, so the aim was to get them to score as early as possible. They did a good job of stalling for as long as they could, but eventually the block/tackle/guard combo of the dwarves meant they had to score about halfway through the second half.

Everything went out way in the final quarter, and we managed a somewhat lucky quick drive, with Salir Ironshield again the star of the show for us.

With two clawpomb teams lined up next, it might have been better to lose this one, but we'll go into the next round and give it everything we've got!

Thanks for the game - I enjoyed it! If you'd had your other star wardancer there, I'm sure it would have turned out differently.

#17 William Palestone – Dead (RIP)
Fumbbl Cup XIII Round 3

One almost-legend Wardancer short, Walpurgis marched into the 3rd round with mixed feelings. Forty Miners were a lean, well balanced Dwarf team with the extra benefit of some speedy players and an Elf-like ball carrier. Our kicker didn't do his best job and with KOR Dwarves had no problem keeping their formation and caging. They kept their tactical discipline and we didn't get any good chance to attack the ball. Maybe should have settled for the bad chance, as we couldn't prevent the score, and couldn't one-turn either against the bulletproof set-up with 2x SF on the LOS.

On the plus side, we still had 10 players going into 2nd half and managed a good offence, but were forced to score T5. Dwarves played a good quick drive and their Runner saved the day for them, marking the 2-1 on the final whistle. Note to self: Need some Diving Tackle! So our Fumbbl Cup ends here. We almost feel sorry for the Forty Miners, looking at the two nasty Chaos teams ahead. Almost!

Thanks for the game, gjopie, you played it really well! Good luck for the next round(s), you're going to need it… :-)
