Second half and the U-dog attack down the flank is cut off, unable to punch their way through the stronger and tougher orc players the U-dogs opt to take the aerial route with Gerald tossing Shest-nadsets over the orc line for the runt to sprint in and score the opening TD of the game.
Immediately after restart the goblin blitz squad is in action again, taking Breterk down and spilling the ball – but Breterk manages to recover the situation this time by gathering the ball and launching a clumsy pass down field towards blitzer ‘Vanker’ and sneakily stomping on Odeen-natses as he does so. Some aggressive defensive blitzing by the U-dog back line skavens once again appear to have delayed the orc score and achieved the U-dogs an unlikely win – but the U-dogs coach’s celebrations come too early as he has misread the turn counted and doesn’t realise that the Eyes have one more turn left on the clock – as a result he fails to instruct Rex’iccles to make what could be a match winning blitz and the orc team are able to scramble the ball over the line for a last second match saving equaliser.
The final score is 1-1 but it could have been a win, had I not misread that turn counter I would have at least have attempted to challenge for the loose ball, quite likely it wouldn’t have made a difference but it would at least have forced the orcs to roll a couple of extra dice on their final turn and with their re-rolls used up even a 2bd block has a 1/36 chance of causing a upset. That one error aside I am extreamly proud of how the team performed today, losing Gerald in turn 1 then successfully defending the whole 8 turns of a half with 2 successful goblin mob blitzes against a physically stronger team is no mean feat.
