“The Children had a hard first season that ultimately ended in defeat, but it wouldn't be their last attempt at the coveted Reddit Trophy. The team sacked worst player NA Giant Robo was sacked, a prodigious amount of alcohol was drank and Star Players Volfogg and Spike practiced a secret, forbidden technique previously unknown to Dwarven-kind: Catching the ball. They were ready to play for keeps in the 4th Annual Reddit FUMBBL League, or at least murder some Elves in the process.
They definitely accomplished one of those things in this game, though not what the team's coach had been expecting.
The Children played to a 2-2 draw. In both halves they took the ball and bashed some Elves while they were at it. The Sentinels for their part were skilled in their ability to outrun the Dwarves. Each time the Children scored, the light-foots were able to quickly even things up. Each risky play was punished with downed elves, but score they did.
It was the final minute of the game, the whole thing was to be decided by a single pass. The ball was on the ground at Spike's feet, he picked it up, he handed it to Kicker, and Kicker ran for the mid-field line. His ultimate target, Star Player Volfogg, had a clear run to the touchdown zone, but there was a problem. A single Elf was in between them. Mavis, after spending a quarter of the game in a Dwarf-induced coma, woke up when he was needed, jumped, and caught the ball mere yards from Star Player Volfogg's Sure Hands. The game was over, a draw, and without a single dead elf in sight. ”
