March to NBFL Super Bowl XVIII, Week 2

We won the coin toss and elected to receive. We set up a strong line at scrimmage, and the Attackers immediately set up a north-oriented defense, sticking in with Krox Matthews. So, obligingly, we went south and J. Anderson removed Matthews on turn 2. We set up camp in the attackers’ half, and just about dared them to attack our tight cage, which they finally did on turn 5, Brad Jumps leaping in and knocking down J. Fonoti. But Randall Hopp turned over recovering the ball, and suddenly we had them where we wanted them. Slater took out Hopp, Anderson got Jumps, and Smith and Brown got in on the removal action too. Suddenly, there were 4 frogs on the pitch, and the survivors ran away or stayed down for the rest of the half. There was a riot after we scored, but the frogs couldn’t get anything out of it, even injuring their own catcher, John Thompson, in the attempt.

In the second half, we set up an interior defense. The Slann, down to 9 men, got a quick snap. The Slann had trouble picking the ball up, and by turn 4, when they actually started to move, their 9 men had become 5. First they scrambled out into a pattern, into which Richard Frogers could pass. We took all but one receiver out, but the one guy, Aaron Ribbitowski, got to the end zone, and for a second it looked like the frogs would score, until Frogers fumbled his pass attempt. We knocked Ribbitowski out, L. Lundy got the ball, Anderson killed Frogers, and Lundy handed off to Fonoti who ran in the 2-0.
