#12 Kareem Abdul-Jabber – Dead (RIP)
NCBB Season 35 Game 1
Conference Game Non-AQ Group A

The matchup between JMSB and WMB proved to be a bloody battle, but while Khorne's disciples gave their best effort, the stars seemed to be aligned against them all night.

JMSB won the toss and chose to receive the kick-off. They started attacking the line of scrimmage and positioned to pick up, but failed on their first attempt. The Daemons replied by having the mighty Bloodthirster known as Savannah Ayat blitz Michael Slay-Han, killing the Bloater in one violent blow. He was however regenerated magically after being served a cool Molson Canadian in the dugout.

On turn 3, Dale Hawerchoke knocked out a pit fighter while Blade Divac managed to secure the ball on his third attempt and moved up field behind a wall of blockers to protect him. Meanwhile, the Bloodthirster turned his attention on another Bloater, ShaKill O'Neal, who ended up on his back surrounded by pit fighters who would foul him twice, but fail to break his armor each time.

Meanwhile, Wyatt Mongo was thrown into the crowd by Die Young and as a result was badly hurt and unable to finish the match. After that, Cal Ripskin Jr. had enough of seeing him team getting roughed up by the wild animal, so he blitzed it to the ground. A swift boot from Grant Fury knocked the great beast unconscious.

Up two man on the field and without the Bloodthirster to cause havoc, Blade Divac was then able to push forward in his cage and score on the 8th turn of the half. With only one turn, WMB received the kick-off and a swift strike from Violet Kreed killed Kareem Abdul-Jabber on line duty. His career was short and foul, like many rotters before him. Back from the KO box, Savannah Ayat roared loudly, wasting a re-roll in the process. After a failed pass attempt, the half was over.

Receiving in the second half, the disciples of Khorne start by attacking the line. Christopher Ellie, in his frenzy, rolls double skull into both down, leaving the ball unprotected 3 squares to the neutral zone. Cal Ripskin Jr. then proceeds to kill Kevin Gurgi, or so he thought until he was seen later in a JSMB jersey sipping a Rickard's Red.

With the rest of the team converging toward the ball, Pavel Bury manages not only to pick up the ball, but to also throw it back to Blade Divac who was behind safely protected by three players.

After this catastrophe, Savannah roars again and wastes the blitz as if WMB didn't have enough misfortune yet. This lets JMSB cage up, but they do it too tight, which lets Savannah blitz and chainpush Divac right into the hands of Lena Orabias who badly hurts him and knocks the ball loose. Divac is seen regenerated a few minutes later on the sidelines with what appears to be a bottle of Blue Moon in his hands. The ball ends up next to Dale Hawerchoke and Kendall Akara, but they both go down as he attempts to clear her away.

This leaves an opening for the Pit Fighter Kaiden Iwell to pick up, but his attempt to pass back at Lena is disturbed by the strong odor of beer emanating from JMSB's squad and he haphazardly fumbles. Die Young starts the next turn by gouging out Malachi Quiad's eye, leaving him unable to perform for this game and the next even. Terry Bradsaw blitzes another fighter, this time badly hurting Isaac Wayfinder, but he can only tag the ball after doing so.

It looks like WMB may still be able to retrieve the ball. Kendall Akara is able to knock down Bradsaw to clear the way, but one of the two remaining pit figthers trips while dodging to make the attempt. This finally clears up an opening for Pavel Bury who again shows his knack for handling the ball and he takes it into the end zone on the 7th turn to clinch the match.

JSMB was able to carry their strength advantage to a win with the help of a few miscues from the wild animal and better luck in ball handling. Thanks for the game to paperbag4 who kept it interesting all the way through.
