Warsatch Front Reports

Utah met with Southern Connecticut, and posted a 2-nil victory. The Brutes received in pouring rain to begin the contest, spending nearly the half fumbling to get possession of the ball. Eventually Blitzer, Vothug, scooped it up and attacked the far sideline. The Dwarves of Connecticut set up a staunch line of defenders to take away running lanes, but the Brutes managed to exploit a weak edge and take off up the sideline. The remainder of the Connecticut line was too tangled with the Brutes to give pursuit.

The second half was marked by Connecticut lining up several of their players very deep to receive. Blitzen Merryhoof led the offensive charge with a blitz on the Brute line. Daggaz Gailore, recieved the kick and looked to follow the push. The Brute defense managed to wall the offensive push, and with little room to go, Connecticut loss the ball to the sideline, followed by several players. Blitzer, Vothug, managed to recover it again, this time dishing it to Black Orc Blocker, Ig, for the gentle jaunt into the endzone by the big man.

Coach Buck's Comments on the Game:

"I was pretty worried early on with that rain. It was really coming down, and we really struggled to get rolling. To make matters worse there were Hobgoblin defenders lurking on the edges waiting to take advantage of our misstep. I'm glad Vothug got a hold of it, and had the speed to pull away. It felt like all that fumbling in the backfield really caused us to take a bit of time to really get in the swing of the game. We were just slow out the gates. That's a mistake we can't make next week. This crew from Paris we're going against: they've yet to lose a game, and they'll rip us apart if we give them that kind of opportunity."
