#5 Terence 'The Flying Turd' Trashrat – Gouged Eye (MNG)
#13 Lemmy – Dead (RIP)
GLT Round of 16 game, and one the Ruffians were a bit fortunate to win. Ogres aren't usually the best of sides, but this legacy team with 8 ogres - 7 of them highly skilled - made a real wall and Strider played them very well.

In the first half, a Ruffians fan hurled a rock at the intended ballcarrier KingBurger, and that really set the ogres back. They couldn't secure it, the rats needed no second invitation and flooded up the field, a gutter getting the ball but beside an ogre. He promptly got whacked and a big scrum developed, ultimately decided by gutter Denzil stripping the ball off an ogre, and another retrieving it from the far side and in for the TD. The ogres still had time to pound their way up field, and the rats couldn't quite muster enough bodies to stop the blocks and break tackle - 1-1. The rats were then hoping for a one-turn attempt to end the first half but perfect defence and a wall of ogres stopped that.

In the second half the Ruffians were again confronted with a wall of ogreflesh which again proved a major obstacle. They should have been through at one point, except Glart chose to push instead of using both down which would have put down an ogre. As a result a risky 3+ catch with rr had to be attempted instead of an easier breakthrough - fail, Nuffle hates waste! The ogres then put tackle zones on the ball, but the arrival of the wizard's fireball cleared just enough space for a gutter to nip in, retrieve and sprint for the wing. That could have been enough due to a fairly good cage, until a linerat stupidly chose a both down with a snotling. That enabled a Str6 ogre to break tackle in to the ball carrier and put him down, the ball scattering back close to other ogres. However gutter Denzil once more saved the day, leaping in to retrieve and then return out of tackle zones. This time the rats did get it safe - 2-1. The ogres had a few turns left and made a great attempt to equalise on the last turn, but had to move it just too far with an ogre dropping the ball near the line.

All in all a good game and to be fair I think Strider played it better than me in the second half - I made two bad mistakes then but the gutters got me out of jail! I guess his cheese hat brought the skaven more luck :D As ever Strider was a great sport, he took the bad dice in good part - a proper coach. I hope the Burgers do well next time out!
