With the normally nigh unstoppable Wood elf offense stalling early and Davros taking full advantage in launching a vicious signature Clothesline Block against the ball carriers and his hapless guard, Carlton were ablt to get control ofthe ball early and proceeded to quickly march it downfield before keeping it deep until almost half time to score the opener right on the buzzer. Colorado made good effort to get back and attack the ball, but Carlton showed a manly strength too great to relinquish their prize this day, the usually unglorious Chris Gumble finally opening their account.

The Elves, undermanned to start the game, were only 7 by the second half and Duke's men were clearly looking to reduce that number further as they surrounded their opponents.

A failed pass from Yardley set the stage for disaster however and the nimble Elves quickly pounced. A hard fought scramble ensued which ened with the ball scattering into the crowd and being tossed back in on the far side of the field in open ground. Easy picking for Colorado's speed and agility.

Another ball handling error from Yardley saw trouble looming once more, and Carlton fans were pulling their hair in frustration as they watched the hawkish Milan descend. Yardley recovered though and sent the ball downfield to a waiting receiver, only to see Brother Fernando Jr lose his nerve and spill it! Adam Foote ran back and snatched the ball but lost his grip also at the crucial moment, dropping the ball back to where it formwely lay. Duke and Davros arrived in unison, and in the nick of time. The rivalry that saw them refusing to take the field together last week forgotten as the well oiled machine laid a jawbreaking block on the Elf Thrower and scooped up the ball to Fernando who ran it home for the win! Phew. A close call for Carlton, but their first win of the season at last...

TWAHNLOW VOTES

3 Votes - #10 Milan Hejduk
Really attacked the ball carrier despite overwhelming odds in the first half. Kept plugging to no avail but gotta give him credit for the effort. Also caused an upset in the second half which caused the Woodies to score. Nobody could stop Rob Blake II from equalising.

2 Vote - #3 Rob Blake II
He scored didn't he? ;)

1 Vote - #1 Peter Worrell II
Peter the Treeman did a job perhaps lacking in glory, but was very annoying throughout, earning good placement and always occupying at least a couple of decent Carlton players.
