“It was into a classic Undead meatgrinder for the Vermin Casualties this fixture. Their blazing runs continued, but their winning record did not. Veteran Repkar Swifttail, one of the most prolific scorers in the league, was a menace for much of the game, eventually succumbing to a poorly executed block and knocking himself out.
Skaven pressure on the ball lessened considerably after the interval, with most of the team lying groaning in the dugout. Ghouls exploited gaps in the defence and made sure of an equal outcome.... at least on the face of the scoreline.
The newly captained linerat and kicker, Filth, was a force on offence, but a serious injury midway through saw him removed. He will be absent for the Casualties' crunch fixture against Wozza's Whirlwinds. Having nibbled several nails down to stubs at watching Mummies crumple his team, the Vermins' coach soon faces another equally worrying encounter.
But with all the blood, gore and a lightning-fast running game, "VC" have never been more popular.”
“The somewhat inexperienced Twiceborn were more than a little nervous to be playing the winningest team in the league, and to be honest, it showed. Several potentially fatal mistakes were made in the first half, even if only a few were actually punished.
After some spectacular running plays from the Vermin, resulting in two quick touchdowns that would have been three if not for a fumbled ball and a risky pass from Coldbreath, the undead quickly realized that their restraint, maneuverability, and sportsmanship were not going to with them this match.
So instead, they set about flattening as many rats as physically possible.
In the end, this match came down to the simple fact that it took about half of the Skaven players on the pitch to make a dogpile attempt on the Twiceborn's ball handlers, and a generous application of bad luck. With nearly all of the opposition on their faces or in the dugout, Morinfen, the team's first player not acquired through an act of necromancy on the pitch, was able to saunter into the endzone for the equalizer.
The real winners of this match, of course, were the fans; responsible for two of the Twiceborn's most important casualties. Thanks!”
