SWL Season XII - Commissioner Twahn Memorial Regional League - Round 6

Well, da gurls did a real good preparing for this game. Before the match, Hed Splitta was sent on her "initiation mission", and succeeded with flying colours (green & pink!). What she had to do was exchange a rather less enjoyable potion for the "magic" one that the elves had been preparing for the match -- she swapped it with a rather nasty concoction that had Twahn, Smegish II and DanielCollins in the ladies room for most of the match (Morley's revenge)! The real one went to Throat Rippa (buzzing) who made the most of it. She also managed to spread some nasty rumours about head coach foolwholaughsatdeath, which was really just a bonus (bad press).

With only 8 players for the first half, we were quite confident of a TD, and though that we'd take the most of the opportunity to remove some more elves from the pitch. The efforts were somewhat unsuccessful, though we did manage to put a couple of them in the KO box, and make the TD right before the end of the half.

The elves were standing around in confusion after half time - maybe they didn't hear the ref blow his whistle - either way, we got a full 5 man cage in place while waiting for them to notice that the ball had already been kicked. Taking full advantage of it, we made another TD just three turns into the half.

Following this, an unfortunate incident involving skulls or 1's (not sure which it was) left BeefyGoodness all alone with the ball, which Hed Splitta graciously took out of his hands, taking it straight through for a third TD in turn 5.

Finally recovering from the evil brew, the elves had a full 10 man team on the pitch. A cunning move saw DM pass the ball to DanielCollins, finally scoring a TD for the high elves.

Really, this game was decided by Morleys, and a timely blitz. Between these two bits of luck, there wasn't much of a chance for the high elves (not unless I made a whole lot of really silly mistakes -- something that happens quite often, but not this game! ;-)

------------------- Twahnlow Votes -------------------
3 pts - #4 DM
As well as making the all important completion so that dan could actually score the TD, DM made good use of his movement in the rest of the game, regularly putting himself in awkward positions (awkward for me that is), and making a nuisance of himself.

2 pts - #3 DanielCollins
Well, really, this is purely for making the SWL Losers sole TD. One elf that put the effort in where it counts! (Granted, he was only on the pitch for about 3 turns ... but he did make it count).

1pt - #5 Miyuso
The only tackler on the elvish side of the pitch, and one that put in plenty of effort attempting to remove players from the pitch. Fortunately for me, thinking that they are orcs means that they tend to ignore the fact that they've been injured, and they just keep on playing, so although poor Miyuso tried, he was rather unsuccessful in his efforts.

What I thought would be a closely contested match turned into an easy win for Laviak. He pretty much had the victory secured early in the 2nd half. Morley's revenge kept 3 of my players off the pitch until the last couple of turns of the game. Another two players including Ozjesting we're out cold for most of the game after being KO'd early on. Pretty much had 6 or 7 elfs at best most of the game. Combine that with a blitz to begin the 2nd half where Laviak was able to get his grrlz in position to not only catch the ball, but cage it, and it was a recipe for disaster. At least my FF didnt go down. : )

Laviak played well, and made sure not to squander the luck given to him.

Twahnlows:

3 points - MORLEY, nah just kidding... but it sure felt like it. The 3 points go to Hed Splitta who was able to walk all over the field with the ball totally unmolested.

2 points - Bone Krasha - The other scorer, and often involved in key positioning.

1 point - Big Chukka - for a the lone completion of the game.

Nice work Laviak, and good luck!
