Darth Bane, born under the name of Dessel on Apatros, was one of the most pivotal Dark Lords of the Sith. After serving as a soldier in the Sith Army, Bane trained at Korriban's Sith Academy, where he quickly established his presence as the most powerful student there. He later helped bring upon the destruction of the old Sith order, the Brotherhood of Darkness, which he felt was ruled by weak fools who were preventing the Sith from achieving their true potential. Bane was one of the few Force-sensitives to survive the Last Battle of Ruusan which signified the end of the thousand-year-long New Sith Wars. After its destruction, he then reinvented the Sith into the Order of the Sith Lords by establishing the Rule of Two, a structure which limited the number of Sith and eliminated the infighting which had plagued the old order. Bane's Rule of Two would allow for the rise of Darth Sidious, who would finally triumph over the Jedi and engineer the collapse of the Galactic Republic.
