"The essence of the Chaos energies of decay, and whether or not they sit wholly in the sphere of influence of Nurgle, has been for a long time a contentious topic among daemonologists. Many popular scholars, such as theogonist Maximus Panzer (that stubborn monkey), report the puzzling example of the 'Flames of Death', small daemonic entities that seem to trigger a rapid aging reaction on the matter that surrounds them. Most authors either blindly link these entities to nurglite influences, despite contradicting evidence, or straight-up forgo any attempt of rationalization, blabbering about 'the inexplicability of the Chaos Powers' or similar nonsense. In this section, we'll see how the failure of classic academia, once again, resides in a lack of understanding of the principles of Paradox Logic, as we saw in Chapter 3. As we have seen previously, it's not unheard of different Powers to exploit the efforts of others to further their own agenda. Classic examples are the use of Slaaneshian desires and interactions to 'piggyback' diseases by Nurgle, or the parasitic nature of Malal-like powers, not to mention the whole existence of the Great Horned Rat [...]. While most academic works limit themselves to equating Nurgle-Decay-Stasis, an attentive study of texts less influenced by ecclesiastic bias (and as such thoughtlessly indexed before publication) show that the border is much more blurred than an inattentive observer might think, and reveal an underlying interconnection of Powers, sometimes even paradoxically so. Indeed, the cycle of decay and life that is rightfully linked to the sphere of the Daemon of Despair also presents a driving force that can be traced back to none other than a seemingly opposite sphere, the Power of Tzeentch. Thus, in our study we must face once again the true, self-contradictory nature of Chaos energies, and we must see decay as a source of Change and cyclical change as a source of Stasis, despite the two forces being apparently in direct opposition to each other. An illuminated Inquisitor must then not be surprised if minor daemons present characteristics that cannot be assigned to just one power easily, and indeed sometimes this kind of beings are used by their masters to induce a crackdown on an opposing cult while their followers act in relative impunity, thanks to the stupidity of some so-called 'experts'."
