Anakin Skywalker was a legendary male Human Jedi Knight in the waning days of the Jedi Order who was believed to be the Chosen One. During his training, he was slowly swayed to the dark side of the Force by his many emotions and, most influentially, by the Sith Lord Darth Sidious. He eventually took on the mantle of Dark Lord of the Sith, thus becoming Darth Vader shortly before the formation of the Galactic Empire.

He was the son of Shmi Skywalker and the husband of Senator Padmé Amidala, as well as the father of Luke Skywalker and Leia Organa Solo.

After Jedi Master Qui-Gon Jinn discovered nine-year-old Anakin on Tatooine, he took him away from the planet to be trained in the ways of the Force, believing the boy to be the Chosen One of Jedi prophecy. Young Anakin was apprenticed to Obi-Wan Kenobi upon Qui-Gon's death.

Before becoming Vader, Skywalker served as a General (originally Commander) in the Grand Army of the Republic during the Clone Wars. As Vader, he was appointed to the role of Military Executor of Palpatine's New Order, and gained infamy as one of the Galaxy's greatest mass murderers. He also headed the Great Jedi Purge—a hunt for the remaining Jedi after Order 66.

In 4 ABY, at the Battle of Endor, he was redeemed by his son, and renounced the ways of the Sith, becoming Anakin Skywalker once again, moments before his death.

"He is the Chosen One. You must see it."
―Qui-Gon Jinn to the Jedi High Council

"Anakin, this path has been placed before you. The choice is yours alone."
―Shmi Skywalker

"The boy has exceptional skills."
"But he still has much to learn, Master. His abilities have made him… well, arrogant."
―Mace Windu and Obi-Wan Kenobi

"Remember, Obi-Wan, if the prophecy is true, your apprentice is the only one who can bring the Force back into balance."
―Mace Windu

"Sometimes a Jedi's most important duty is to stand and wait. I presume you've mentioned that to Anakin on occasion?"
"Not more than twice a day."
―Mace Windu and Obi-Wan Kenobi

"Ani?… My goodness, you've grown."
―Padmé Amidala to Anakin

"You're asking me to be rational. That is something that I know I cannot do. Believe me, I wish I could just wish away my feelings, but I can't."
―Anakin Skywalker

"Why'd she have to die? Why couldn't I save her? I know I could have!"
"Sometimes there are things no one can fix. You're not all powerful, Ani."
"Well I should be! Some day I will be. I will be the most powerful Jedi ever! I promise you. I will even learn to stop people from dying!"
"Anakin…"
"It's all Obi-Wan's fault! He's jealous! He's holding me back!"
―Anakin Skywalker and Padmé Amidala

"You're going to pay for all the Jedi that you've killed today, Dooku."
―Anakin Skywalker

"You are strong and wise, Anakin, and I am very proud of you. I have trained you since you were a small boy. I have taught you everything I know, and you have become a far greater Jedi than I could ever hope to be."
―Obi-Wan Kenobi

"I'm going to make you pay for what you've done."
"Come, Padawan. Your fall will be my ascension to the Sith."
―Anakin Skywalker and Asajj Ventress

"Soon I will have a new apprentice… one far younger and more powerful."
―Darth Sidious

"You die in childbirth."
"And the baby?"
"I don't know."
"It was only a dream."
"I won't let this one become real."
―Anakin Skywalker and Padmé Amidala

"Twisted by the dark side, young Skywalker has become. The boy you trained, gone he is… consumed by Darth Vader."
―Yoda to Obi-Wan Kenobi

"The war is over! Lord Sidious promised us peace! We only want—"
―Nute Gunray, just before Vader killed him

"It's over, Anakin! I have the high ground!"
"You underestimate my power!"
"Don't try it!"
―Obi-Wan and Vader

"I hate you!"
"You were my brother, Anakin. I loved you!"
―Darth Vader and Obi-Wan Kenobi

"You don't know the power of the dark side. I must obey my Master."
―Vader to his son

"Palpatine's mailed fist, Dooku's successor, Maul's inheritor."
―Shadday Potkin

"What could you hate enough to destroy me?"
"Myself."
―Darths Maul and Vader

"I've been waiting for you, Obi-Wan. We meet again at last. The circle is now complete. When I left you I was but the learner; now I am the Master."
"Only a master of evil, Darth."
―Darth Vader and Obi-Wan Kenobi

"The son of Skywalker must not become a Jedi…"
"If he could be turned, he would become a powerful ally…"
―Palpatine and Darth Vader

Obi-Wan never told you what happened to your father."
"He told me enough! He told me you killed him."
"No. I am your father."
―Darth Vader and Luke Skywalker

"It is the name of your true self. You have only forgotten. I know there is good in you. The Emperor hasn't driven it from you fully. That was why you couldn't destroy me. That's why you won't bring me to your Emperor now."
―Luke Skywalker

"You were right… you were right about me. Tell your sister… You were right…"
―Anakin Skywalker's dying words

"Maybe Vader had died heroically, but ten minutes of contrition did not make up for years of atrocities."
―Leia Organa

"… A special destiny is not always something joyous, or easy to bear. My father had a special destiny, and see where it took him."
―Luke Skywalker

"Sometimes things must be broken in order to be rebuilt."
―Jacen Solo

"For Anakin, there is nothing more important than friendship. He is the most loyal man I've ever met—loyal beyond reason; in fact […] abstractions like peace don't mean much to him. He's loyal to people, not to principles. And he expects loyalty in return. He will stop at nothing to save me, for example, because he thinks I would do the same for him… because he knows I would do the same for him."
―Obi-Wan Kenobi

His death:

During this time, the Emperor, Darth Sidious, relentlessly attempted to lure Luke to the dark side, tormenting him with thoughts of the defeat of the Rebel Alliance and the death of his friends. However, Luke continued to attempt to restrain himself from fighting his father. Vader, who had been probing Luke's thoughts, discovered that besides Luke he also had a daughter: Leia Organa, Luke's twin sister. Vader, happy at the finding, decided to use this knowledge against Luke, threatening to corrupt Leia. Luke, enraged, ignited his lightsaber and viciously attacked Vader with anger and hatred, slowly converting to the dark side. Finally, Luke sliced off Vader's mechanical right hand, defeating the Dark Lord. Palpatine, cackling with triumph, urged Luke to fulfill his destiny, and take his father's place at the Dark Lord's side. Vader then realized that he had been betrayed, just as Count Dooku had been betrayed decades previous.

Luke looked down to see his father's right severed arm, and, seeing that it was mechanical like his, he realized that he was about to become Vader's successor. Horrified at what he was about to do, Luke used a combination of Obi-Wan's teachings and the light side of the Force to calm himself down. Luke tossed his lightsaber away, refusing the Emperor's offer to join him as his new apprentice, declaring that he was a Jedi like his father before him. Enraged at the failure of his plans, the Emperor unleashed a barrage of Force lightning attacks upon Luke. Defiant in the face of evil, Luke suffered the wrath of Palpatine, and Vader could do no more than watch as Luke Skywalker lay dying.

But Anakin never forgot the pain Count Dooku had once inflicted upon him with the lethal power of Force lightning, and could not bear to see his son in such agony. He had been unable to save his mother, he had let Mace Windu die under his Master's power many years before, he had murdered hundreds of Jedi, he had lost his best friend, and he had killed his own wife and ensured his own downfall, but he could save his son. Anakin Skywalker would not stand by and let his son fall. From this moment on, Vader ceased to exist, and Anakin Skywalker was reborn. In a final heroic effort of self-sacrifice, rectifying his mistake by not helping Windu kill Palpatine before, Anakin reemerged from the mind of Vader and struggled to his feet to rescue his son from the Emperor. In an act out of pure love for his son, he literally overthrew his dark Master, completely lifting him off the ground with his great strength, and cast the Emperor down the Death Star's reactor shaft to his death. However, it was at the cost of his own life. Anakin was badly wounded in the process by the startled Emperor's flailing arms still issuing Force lightning, and his breathing apparatus short-circuited, but this single act served to redeem his past actions.

Luke, attempting to save Anakin's life, used Force-assisted strength to drag the dying, deadweight of Anakin's body to the hangar. Anakin, knowing that he would die whether or not Luke managed to get him onto a shuttle, stopped his son.

Nearing death, Anakin asked Luke to help him remove his mask, so that he could see his son with his own eyes, not through the blood red lens filters. Luke helped disconnect the mask and saw his father for the first time. Beneath, Anakin Skywalker was bald, his hair folicles having been incinerated in Mustafar's flames, and deathly pale, his skin having not seen sunlight for over two decades. However, his eyes were no longer the burning yellow they were, but a shining blue filled with the guilt and regret for his own sins. After seeing his son directly, he told Luke that he was right about him, as was his mother—there was good still in him; and to tell his sister, Leia, the same. With these last words, Anakin Skywalker died and became one with the Force.

Darth Maul was a Dark Lord of the Sith and the first known apprentice of Darth Sidious. As a young child, Maul was kidnapped by Sidious and secretly trained in the ways of the dark side of the Force. Growing up under this dark side tutelage of Darth Sidious, the only emotions Maul learned were those of bloodlust and rage.

Maul was a master of Juyo, Jar'Kai, and Teräs Käsi, and chose to use a double-bladed lightsaber for combat. In the years leading up to the Invasion of Naboo, Sidious had sent Maul on several political assassination missions, most notably against Black Sun, but Maul longed to encounter and kill Jedi.

In 32 BBY, Maul was dispatched by Sidious to kill Jedi Master Qui-Gon Jinn and his Padawan, Obi-Wan Kenobi. After tracking them to Tatooine and then to Naboo, he engaged both Jedi during the Second Battle of Theed. Maul slew Jinn, but made a fatal mistake when he underestimated Kenobi. After a brief, but fast-paced battle, Kenobi slew the Zabrak Sith Lord.

"It was a man… But like no other man…"
―Asa Naga

"Fear. Fear attracts the fearful… the strong… the weak… the innocent… the corrupt. Fear. Fear is my ally."
―Darth Maul

"You have been well trained, my young apprentice. They will be no match for you."
―Darth Sidious

"Stealth is the greatest tool of the Sith assassin"
―Darth Sidious

"At last we will reveal ourselves to the Jedi. At last we will have revenge."
―Darth Maul

"He who trained his entire life to kill Jedi could certainly not fail to kill a mere Padawan."
―Darth Maul

"There is no Palpatine. No Empire. No Jedi.
There is no light, no dark... just you and I here now."
―Darth Maul to Obi-Wan Kenobi

After a long and intense engagement, Maul slew the exhausted Jinn, inciting the anger in the Jedi Master's young apprentice. Within seconds the apprentice—Obi-Wan Kenobi had pounced upon the Sith Lord and blades had met. For a short while Maul was evenly matched against the rage-filled young Jedi Padawan, until Obi-Wan cut his double-bladed lightsaber in half. Obi-Wan began to gain the upper hand, but eventually skill prevailed for the Sith Lord and he was able to Force push the young Jedi into a melting pit. Kenobi hung onto a small device on the side of the pit as Maul grinned, predicting his victory, from above. However, Maul's overconfidence was his downfall.

<img src="http://images.wikia.com/starwars/images/thumb/7/70/Maul%27s_Death.jpg/180px-Maul%27s_Death.jpg"></a>

Kenobi used the Force to leap out of the melting pit and summon his Master's lightsaber to his hand. The Padawan sliced Maul in half through his waist causing the Dark Lord to flinch in shock. Maul fell to his apparent death, into the melting pit, in silence. It was an unfortunate setback for Darth Sidious but, for a calculating man with foreknowledge of the future, it was not a disaster. Perhaps it was even deliberate. Within a year Maul would be replaced with another powerful apprentice.

...........

Shortly before the Battle of Yavin, a dark side splinter group called the Prophets of the Dark Side managed to resurrect Darth Maul. It is unknown whether this Maul was created through cloning techniques, by using some form of Sith alchemy to restore and reanimate Maul's actual corpse (which was destroyed in the Naboo Reactor Core Room,)or through other means. The Prophets themselves stated that "there are techniques to mold a being in every way." As an example to the lesser vassals of Palpatine's Empire and to put an end to the tainted Sith Apprentice, Darth Vader was chosen as the first target for the dark warrior. These dark side worshipers believed Vader to be too much of a Jedi to be a worthy Sith Lord.

On the shadowy volcanic moon Kalakar VI, Vader thought he would intercept a Rebel courier with the stolen plans to the first Death Star. Instead, he was met by a reborn Darth Maul and the observing dark acolytes. Darth Maul then dueled Vader on equal terms, but gained the advantage late in the duel. Yet, in the final moments of the battle, Vader surprised Maul by stabbing his lightsaber through his own body (and, through proximity, Maul as well), damaging his own circuits and almost losing his own life in the process. With Maul defeated, the observing acolytes were executed by Palpatine himself for their "treacherous" act towards his rule.

In his youth on Tatooine, Greedo was noted for his temper. He accused Anakin of cheating in the Boonta Eve Classic podrace, resulting in a scuffle that Qui-Gon Jinn had to break up. His friend Wald warned him that if he continued his violent ways, he would eventually come to a bad end.

He seemed to take this lesson to heart, since as an adult, Greedo began to look upon the traditional Rodian hunts as foolishness, and, despite his feared reputation, Greedo refused to join in the gladiatorial combat that his people engaged in.

Wald's prediction did come true however, and after a successful career as a bounty hunter, hunting criminals and outlaws, Greedo the Elder came to a violent end when his son was young, dying in the purges of Navik the Red.

Greedo's son (also named Greedo) was raised off Tatooine by his mother Neela and his uncle Nok. Greedo the Younger sought to emulate his father by claiming the bounty on Han Solo, but died as violently as the first Greedo had.

Owen Lars was the son of moisture farmer Cliegg Lars and the stepbrother of Anakin Skywalker. He married Beru Whitesun, and after his father's death, he inherited his job as a moisture farmer. In 19 BBY, Beru convinced Owen to adopt Anakin's son, Luke Skywalker, as Anakin had turned to the dark side and became the infamous Darth Vader.

Shortly before the Battle of Yavin, Owen and Luke met with the customary local Jawa traders, looking for a droid that could speak Bocce. Unbeknownst to Owen, one of the droids was in fact C-3PO—now in gold plating—and his counterpart, astromech droid R2-D2. When Luke found Leia's hidden message inside of R2-D2, he told Owen and Beru that the astromech claimed to belong to an "Obi-Wan" Kenobi. Trying to keep Luke from learning about his father, Owen ordered him to give the droid a memory wipe.

The next morning, Luke left early to find R2-D2, who had ran off the night before to find his former "master." Owen and Beru never saw him again, for they were killed by Imperial stormtroopers who were looking for R2-D2 on behalf of Darth Vader, after the droid escaped with the stolen plans for the first Death Star. According to the recollection of stormtrooper Davin Felth, the farmers were killed after Owen spat in the face of the squad's commanding officer.

Laze Loneozner and his wife Camie looked after the Lars farm for the first few months after Owen's death, until Luke returned to Tatooine and gave his inheritance to the alien named Throgg.

Stormtroopers were the shock troops of the Galactic Empire, loyal and answerable directly to Emperor Palpatine. Like Imperial-class Star Destroyers, stormtroopers served as reminders of the Emperor's power, extensions of his will, and a method of keeping the Empire's thousands of star systems in line through fear.

Formed into the Stormtrooper Corps, stormtroopers operated alongside Army and Navy units, as well as independently, although their common placement on Naval ships gave them the name "marines."

"The Empire can always use more mindless automatons."
&#8213;Darth Vader

"The clone troopers, now proudly wearing the name of Imperial stormtroopers, have tackled the dangerous work of fighting our enemies on the front lines. Many have died in their devotion to the Empire. Imperial citizens would do well to remember their example."
&#8213;Emperor Palpatine during the Declaration of a New Order

"Aren't you a little short for a stormtrooper?"
&#8213;Princess Leia Organa to a disguised Luke Skywalker during her escape from the first Death Star

"Now, that's a picture, isn't it? The Emperor's stormtroopers setting the example for good manners. Like arming protocol droids with blasters."
&#8213;Han Solo

"Only Imperial stormtroopers are so precise."
&#8213;Obi-Wan Kenobi

"You really think that armor's gonna help?"

Grievous, born as Qymaen jai Sheelal, was the Supreme Commander of the Droid Armies of the Confederacy of Independent Systems during the Clone Wars.

By the time of his death, he was a cyborg—a fusion of a Krath war droid's powerful robotic structure and his own organic brain, nervous system, and sensory organs. Brilliant golden eyes with black, reptilian pupils and red-raw sockets were the only visible reminder of his organic past as a Kaleesh warlord.

"I am Grievous, warlord of the Kaleesh and Supreme Commander of the armies of the Confederacy. And I am not a droid!"
&#8213;Grievous

"And judging from the cloak we found, you are a Kaleesh General, are you not?"
&#8213;San Hill to Grievous

"Who am I? I am the future!"
&#8213;Grievous to Asajj Ventress

"More machine than alive, Grievous is—though more dangerous for it."
&#8213;Yoda

"You've no idea what you have brought upon yourselves. I've mastered your weapon. And combined that skill with the speed only a machine is capable of. How can any living being stand against me?"
&#8213;Grievous to B'dard Tone and Flynn Kybo

"Jedi, you are surrounded, your armies decimated. Make peace with the Force now, for this is your final hour. But know that I, General Grievous, am not completely without mercy. I will grant you a warrior's death. Prepare."
&#8213;Grievous to Ki-Adi Mundi and several other Jedi during the Battle of Hypori

"So, the Republic would have the Galaxy believe that its heart is secure. Today's events, however, show that there is nothing that can stop our forces from total victory."
&#8213;Grievous, referring to the terrifying invasion of Duro by the General's forces

"If you are to succeed in combat against the best of the Jedi, you must have fear, surprise, and intimidation on your side. For if any one element is lacking, it would be best for you to retreat. You must break them before you engage them. Only then will you ensure victory and have your trophy."
&#8213;Count Dooku to Grievous

"Unstoppable. He is unstoppable."
&#8213;K'Kruhk

"Stop using standard attacks. Use the unorthodox!"
&#8213;Dooku

Crush them! Make them suffer!"
&#8213;General Grievous ordering his bodyguards to kill Anakin Skywalker and Obi-Wan Kenobi

"And this time, you won't escape."
&#8213;Obi-Wan Kenobi

"Time to abandon ship."
&#8213;Grievous before escaping Invisible Hand

"It won't be long before the armies of the Republic track us here. I am sending you to the Mustafar system in the Outer Rim. It is a volcanic planet which generates a great deal of scanning interference. You will be safe there."
&#8213;Grievous to the Separatist Council

"Army or not, you must realize… you are doomed!"
"Oh, I don't think so."
&#8213;Grievous and Obi-Wan Kenobi

Death of Grievous

Grievous fled on his wheel bike, presumably not wishing to continue with the battle, pursued by Obi-Wan on a varactyl named Boga. After a prolonged chase and running duel, Kenobi caught up with Grievous on his private landing dock, hidden in a small, nearby sinkhole. As they fought hand-to-hand, Grievous showed that he was obviously the superior fighter, making excellent use of his mechanical body. After striking him a few times, Grievous tossed Kenobi off the platform, but the Jedi managed to catch hold of the edge. Grievous, deprived of most of his arsenal, snatched his electrostaff and headed for Obi-Wan, intending to finish him off. However, during the fight, Kenobi had pulled one of Grievous's chest plates off, revealing the synth-skin gutsack holding Grievous's remaining organs. Using the Force, Kenobi called Grievous's blaster to his outstretched hand. He fired five shots into the general's gutsack just as the Grievous was about to finish him off with an electrostaff. Grievous's flammable organic components burst into flames, charring him from the inside out.

His mechanical corpse lay on the Utapaun landing platform, never again to hold any organic material or life. General Grievous, amongst the greatest foes of the Jedi Order, was dead.

<h2>Jedi kills</h2>

"Your lightsabers will make a fine addition to my collection."
&#8213;Grievous to Obi-Wan Kenobi and Anakin Skywalker onboard Invisible Hand

Cutting a swath of destruction across the Galaxy during the Clone Wars, Grievous personally murdered as many as one hundred Jedi, collecting dozens of lightsabers as personal trophies—despite his hatred for the Jedi Order, his past as a swordsman gave him an appreciation of the craftsmanship involved in their construction.

"He has murdered hundreds of our brothers and sisters."
&#8213;Flynn Kybo to Yoda [src]

Obi-Wan Kenobi, later known as Ben Kenobi, was a legendary Human Jedi Master. He received his training from Masters Yoda and Qui-Gon Jinn, and taught both Anakin and Luke Skywalker in the ways of the Force, therefore indirectly forging the foundation stone of the New Jedi Order.

In 32 BBY, he became the first Jedi in approximately 1,000 years to defeat a Sith Lord in combat when he defeated Darth Maul during the Second Battle of Theed, and later defeated (though without killing him) Darth Vader on Mustafar. Kenobi was also one of the last members of the Jedi High Council during the waning days of the Old Republic, one of the few Jedi to survive the Great Jedi Purge, and a master of the Soresu form of lightsaber combat. He fought as a High General for the Galactic Republic during the Clone Wars, earning the sobriquet "The Negotiator", and personally ended the threat of General Grievous.

"Qui-Gon's defiance, I sense in you. Need that, you do not."
&#8213;Yoda

"I have a bad feeling about this."
"I don't sense anything."
"It's not about the mission, Master. It's something elsewhere…elusive."
&#8213;Obi-Wan Kenobi and Qui-Gon Jinn

"The boy is dangerous. They all sense it. Why can't you?"
&#8213;Obi-Wan Kenobi to Qui-Gon Jinn, referring to Anakin Skywalker

"It felt like a dream when Qui-Gon fell."
&#8213;Obi-Wan Kenobi to Yoda

"Confer on you the level of Jedi Knight, the Council does. But agree with your taking this boy as your Padawan learner, I do not."
"Qui-Gon believed in him."
"The Chosen One, the boy may be. Nevertheless, grave danger, I fear in his training."
&#8213;Yoda and Obi-Wan Kenobi

"Obi-Wan has forgotten ever being a child."
&#8213;Thracia Cho Leem

"The legacy of this mission is pain."
&#8213;Obi-Wan Kenobi

"The capture of Zan Arbor is the safety of the Galaxy."
&#8213;Obi-Wan Kenobi

"Obi-Wan is a great mentor. I am truly grateful to be his apprentice."
&#8213;Anakin Skywalker

"I will never join you, Dooku."
&#8213;Obi-Wan Kenobi to Count Dooku

"You fought in the Clone Wars?"
"Yes. I was once a Jedi Knight, the same as your father."
&#8213;Luke Skywalker and Obi-Wan Kenobi

"I doubt even Master Qui-Gon could've prepared a Jedi for this."
&#8213;Obi-Wan Kenobi

"I won't fail you."
"No Anakin, don't fail yourself."
&#8213;Anakin Skywalker and Obi-Wan Kenobi

"Who's the more foolish, the fool or the fool who follows him?"
&#8213;Obi-Wan Kenobi to Han Solo

"He was deceived by a lie. We all were. It appears that the Chancellor…the Emperor, is behind everything, including the war. Palpatine is the Sith Lord we've been looking for. After the death of Count Dooku, Anakin became his new apprentice."
&#8213;Obi-Wan Kenobi to Padmé Amidala

"Ah, yes. The negotiator. General Kenobi. We've been waiting for you."
&#8213;General Grievous

"Senator Organa, my Clone troops turned on me. I need help."
"We have just rescued Master Yoda. It appears this ambush has happened everywhere. We are sending you our coordinates."
&#8213;Obi-Wan Kenobi and Bail Organa

"I can't watch anymore."
"Destroy the Sith, we must."
&#8213;Obi-Wan Kenobi and Yoda

"If you're not with me, then you're my enemy!"
"Only a Sith deals in absolutes. I will do what I must."
"You will try!"
&#8213;Darth Vader and Obi-Wan before their duel

"You were the Chosen One!! It was said that you would destroy the Sith, not join them!! Bring balance to the Force, not leave it in darkness! ...You were my brother, Anakin! I loved you!"

"I will take the child and watch over him."
&#8213;Obi-Wan Kenobi to Yoda and Bail Organa, referring to Luke

"That wizard's just a crazy old man. I don't think he exists anymore. He died about the same time as your father."
&#8213;Owen Lars to Luke Skywalker

His death

Before they could reach their destination, Alderaan was destroyed by the Imperial Super Weapon, the Death Star. The Falcon was captured by the Death Star. Kenobi and the others managed to elude capture, and the others even rescued the captive Princess Leia while Kenobi deactivated the tractor beam so the Falcon could escape.

On his way back to the ship, Kenobi encountered his old student, Darth Vader. Vader had earlier surmised to Grand Moff Tarkin that Kenobi had intended from the beginning to meet him in combat. Kenobi distracted Vader and his stormtroopers in a fierce duel, allowing Luke and the rest of the crew to reach the Falcon. During their battle, Vader mocked Obi-Wan by saying:

"Your powers are weak, old man."
&#8213;Darth Vader to Obi-Wan Kenobi

Kenobi cryptically warned Vader:

"You can't win Darth. If you strike me down, I shall become more powerful than you can possibly imagine."
&#8213;Obi-Wan Kenobi to Darth Vader

Upon seeing Luke he sacrificed himself for Luke and the Falcon's crew escape. Kenobi let down his guard and concentrated for a moment, vanishing to the spiritual plane; his body disappearing entirely just as Vader's lightsaber, instead of severing his body, passed through his empty robe. It is thought that Kenobi vanished into the force to teach Luke a lesson, about how there is no death, there is only the Force as Yoda had said many years before.

General, Representative, and later Senator Jar Jar Binks was the first Gungan to represent his people in the Galactic Senate, first serving as a Junior Representative along with Senator Padmé Amidala, and then, after her death, serving as full Senator himself. Like most Gungans, Jar Jar was lanky and spoke Basic with a unique accent. Despite being naïve and clumsy, Jar Jar Binks contributed greatly to the fate of the Galactic Republic, whether for good or for ill.

He was one of Qui-Gon Jinn's companions during the Invasion of Naboo, traveling to distant worlds such as Tatooine and Coruscant, an activity not taken up by many Gungans. On his return to Naboo, Binks served as a General for a short while in the Gungan Grand Army, and was a joint commander of the Battle of Grassy Plains with General Ceel. He also later helped his people colonize the nearby Naboo moon Ohma-D'un. During Binks' career as Junior Representative, he acted as Amidala's proxy and proposed giving Supreme Chancellor Palpatine emergency powers in order to deal with the Separatist crisis. Binks continued his public service even after the death of Amidala, taking her place as Senator.

"You were banished because you were clumsy?"
&#8213;Obi-Wan Kenobi

"You almost got us killed. Are you brainless?"
"I spake."
"The ability to speak does not make you intelligent."
&#8213;Qui-Gon Jinn and Jar Jar Binks

"This sun doin' murder to mesa skin…"
&#8213;Jar Jar Binks

"General?!"
&#8213;Jar Jar Binks

"It's a clear desa Separatists made a pact witha desa Federation du Trade. Senators! Dellow felegates! In response to this direct threat to the Republic, mesa propose, that the Senate give immediately emergency powers to the Supreme Chancellor!"
&#8213;Representative Jar Jar Binks

"I knew he was invited to attend, I don't know what I was thinking even bringing it here."
&#8213;Kime Enanrum after Jar Jar after broke his sculpture

His death (made up):

Recently, many fans have developed an erroneous belief that Jar Jar moved to Alderaan after the events of Revenge of the Sith, and was killed when the Death Star destroyed that planet.

<h2>Bail Organa</h2>

Bail Prestor Organa was Princess Leia Organa's adoptive father and a friend of Jedi Master Obi-Wan Kenobi. He was married to Queen Breha Organa of Alderaan and as Prince Consort, head of the royal house and ruler of Alderaan he was formally styled as His Serene Highness, Prince Bail Organa, First Chairman and Viceroy of Alderaan. In the Rebel Alliance and its successor states, the New Republic and Galactic Federation of Free Alliances, he was respected as a martyr who died for his cause.

"What's going on here?"
"There's been a rebellion, sir. Don't worry. The situation is under control. I'm sorry, sir. It's time for you to leave."
"And so it is."
&#8213;Bail Organa and a clone trooper

His death:

A historical moment for the Rebellion was the signing of the Corellian Treaty in circa 2 BBY. Signed by Organa, Mothma, and Bel Iblis, the document formalized the relationship between the Corellian, Alderaanian and Chandrilan resistance forces, respectively, from a loose coalition to an organized rebellion — the Alliance to Restore the Republic.

In 0 BBY, after discovering Imperial plans to construct the Death Star, Organa sent his daughter Leia on a mission to recruit Jedi Master Obi-Wan Kenobi for the Rebel cause. However, Leia and Obi-Wan never made it to Alderaan, and Bail Organa perished when Wilhuff Tarkin, now a Grand Moff, ordered the destruction of Alderaan using the Death Star's superlaser.

Qui-Gon Jinn was a revered yet maverick and unconventional Jedi Master, Padawan to Count Dooku, and mentor to Obi-Wan Kenobi. Jinn often placed himself in conflict with the Jedi Council. He was deeply attuned to the Living Force, which contributed to his frequent taking side trips to help seemingly "pathetic life-forms." Despite his opposition to the council, he was regarded by many Jedi as very wise and clever.

Jinn served the Republic, the Jedi Order, and the Force his entire life, participating in actions against the Nebula Front and most famously during the Invasion of Naboo. It was Qui-Gon Jinn who discovered the Chosen One (Anakin Skywalker), on Tatooine during this crisis and was largely responsible for getting him trained as a Jedi. Even after his death at the hands of Darth Maul he played a major part in the future of the Jedi.

"Do not defy the Council, Master, not again."
"I shall do what I must, Obi-Wan."
&#8213;Obi-Wan Kenobi and Qui-Gon Jinn

"A broken circle."
&#8213;Obi-Wan Kenobi

"Qui-Gon Jinn, I will be thirteen in four weeks. You are my last chance to be a Jedi Knight."
&#8213;Obi-Wan begging Qui-Gon to accept him as his apprentice.

"You are a subject of a scientific experimentation. You will not be hurt, only studied."
&#8213;Jenna Zan Arbor

"There is no help for me now. There is only revenge."
&#8213;Qui-Gon directly after Tahl's death

"The situation here is not what it seems. There is something else behind all this, Your Highness. There is no logic in the Federation's move here. My feelings tell me they will destroy you."
&#8213;Qui-Gon Jinn to Queen Amidala

"Finding him was the will of the Force, I have no doubt of that."
&#8213;Qui-Gon Jinn to the Jedi Council

"I can only protect you. I cannot fight a war for you."
&#8213;Qui-Gon Jinn to Queen Amidala

"As far as your wisdom goes, you're no Qui-Gon Jinn!"
&#8213;Anakin Skywalker to Obi-Wan Kenobi

"When you travel the universe with Qui-Gon Jinn, you tend to learn a few things."
&#8213;Obi-Wan Kenobi to Anakin Skywalker

"Jinn always does things his own way, always sure he is right, always incredulous if we do not see it his way. Some think he is a gray Jedi."
&#8213;Tyvokka on Qui-Gon Jinn

"Qui-Gon Jinn was perhaps the greatest Jedi alive, a commanding presence at Council, a strong and brave warrior who refused to be intimidated by even the most daunting challenge, and a good and kind man."
&#8213;Obi-Wan Kenobi

His deadly Duel:

At the Second Battle of Theed, Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan encountered and fought Darth Maul. The duo put up a great fight, but when Maul kicked Obi-Wan over an edge, Qui-Gon and Maul moved on, and passed through protective and impenetrable laser shields. They closed between them, separating the combatants for a moment. They also separated Obi-Wan and Qui-Gon. When they disappeared, Qui-Gon immediately attacked Darth Maul, and Obi-Wan rushed to help his Master. But the shields again prevented him from succoring his mentor. Although Qui-Gon was one of the best lightsaber masters in the Order, his mastery of Ataru combat style proved to be disadvantageous in the confined space of the reactor core. Also, Maul had the advantage of youth and pure strength, resulting in an exhausted Qui-Gon being hit with Maul's hilt then impaled with the Sith's saber. Enraged, Obi-Wan attacked the Sith, cutting his saberstaff in two and eventually killing him. With his last breaths, he told Obi-Wan to train Anakin as his dying wish. Qui-Gon was cremated in the Theed Funeral Temple.

Mothma was born into a wealthy, influential family on Chandrila. Her mother was the governor of the planet, and her father was an arbiter-general for the Republic. At the age of 21 (27 BBY) she was elected to represent the Bormea Sector in the Galactic Senate, becoming the youngest Senator ever to serve—a record later broken by Leia Organa Solo, future apprentice and colleague of Mothma.

To those who knew her, Mothma was kind and caring, yet sometimes forgot herself when dealing in politics, which often seemed to claim importance over everything else in her life. She was a daring woman with charisma and political savvy, but she was not devoid of enemies.

"That is our goal: To become the New Republic in fact as well as name."
&#8213;Mon Mothma

"We are not Separatists trying to leave the Republic, we are Loyalists trying to preserve democracy in the Republic."
&#8213;Mon Mothma

her death:

Mothma supported Luke Skywalker in his efforts to reestablish the Jedi Order to protect and guide the New Republic. She gave her official sanction to Skywalker's efforts to find and recruit potential Jedi. Mothma also arranged for Skywalker to be given the former Rebel base on Yavin IV's moon as a home for the new Jedi school.

Unlike her years in the Alliance, Mothma did not stay hidden in safety. During a diplomatic visit to Coruscant, a Caridan ambassador threw what appeared to be a drink on Mothma's face as an insulting send-off gesture. This "drink" turned out to be nanomachines that slowly affected Mothma. Mothma decided to resign her post as Chief of State as her condition worsened, and guided the council to appoint Leia Organa Solo to succeed her in office. The condition nearly killed her, but at the last minute Mothma was saved by the Mon Calamari Jedi Cilghal who used the Force to cleanse her body.

Without the nano destroyers in her body, Mothma's condition improved. Within a few weeks she was standing again, something that Leia never thought she'd see Mothma do again. Leia tried to convince Mothma to become Chief of State again, but Mothma refused—feeling that the time had come for her to step aside.

Despite her improvement, Mothma never completely recovered. For the most part, she retired from public life. However, in 17 ABY, during the Almanian Uprising, she became acting Chief of State while Leia Organa Solo, the current Chief of State, led Wedge Antilles and a fleet to Almania to find her brother, and rescue him from the megalomaniac Kueller. She later resigned when Leia returned.

In 19 ABY, she was present at the signing of the Bastion Accords, and was a guest of honor at the wedding of Luke Skywalker and Mara Jade. Her condition continued to worsen, albeit slowly, and shortly before the Yuuzhan Vong War she died quietly in her sleep. In honor of her courage and bravery throughout the years, an Imperial Star Destroyer was given the name Mon Mothma.

Born to prisoners of a labor colony on Kalist VI, Ralter had no concept of freedom until he met a Rebel pilot imprisoned in the colony. The pilot told Ralter of the world beyond Kalist VI, and together they plotted an escape. Ralter managed to get away, but the Rebel pilot died during the effort.

To honor the man responsible for his freedom, Ralter joined the Rebel Alliance pilot corps. He underwent a rapid training program and was deployed at Echo Base with Rogue Squadron as Rogue Six. During the Battle of Hoth, Ralter served as Luke Skywalker's gunner. As Luke and Dak prepared to make the first attack run on an AT-AT using their snowspeeder's tow cable, a direct hit on the rear of the vehicle from one of the walkers likely killed Dak instantly, and any chance of his survival was thwarted when a walker trampled the speeder as it passed.
