Mighty Blow
Little is known of this mysterious Sith Lord who resided in the galaxy sometime before and during the Sith Wars, establishing a home on the planet Almas, far beyond the usual range of planets.

Rivan built a fortress for himself underneath the planet's surface to hide from the Jedi. Like most Sith, Rivan felt the need to tamper with the Force and nature, creating a new strain of oxygen producing plants over a course of one year on Almas, the Kaluthin plant. Rivan spread the new creation across the surface of the world, changing the atmosphere and drawing heat from the core. Rivan was driven from his homeworld by the Jedi during the New Sith Wars, and eventually perished prior to the Battle of Ruusan. Galactic Republic and Jedi forces destroyed the dome of his fortress, but could not destroy the fortress itself.

Thinking the fortress was not worth the effort, they decided to leave it alone. The planet, though far from its suns, was bathed in radiant light, the phosphorus rich plants responsible. One side of the world, however, there is an area of inhospitable wasteland slowly spreading outwards where even the Kaluthin plant can grow no more. The centre of this dying land is the Sith fortress, baffling Jedi as to how it is killing the world.

Analysis of the fortress performed shortly after the Battle of Naboo revealed that the dome on the fortress was well over 1,000 years old, indicating that Rivan himself was of a very advanced age at the time of its construction. This led many Jedi scholars to believe that Rivan was not of human origin.

"The best of all would be the strongest student, yes? Wisest? Most learned in the ways of the Force? Best of all, Dooku would be! Our greatest student! Our greatest failure."
?Yoda

Count Dooku of Serenno was a legendary Jedi Master in the Jedi Order and was one of the most renowned swordsmen of the Galaxy. He trained notable Jedi such as Qui-Gon Jinn and Komari Vosa during his time as a Jedi. It was said that only Masters Yoda, Mace Windu, and later on, Jedi Knight Anakin Skywalker could have fought on equal terms with him.

Later in life, Dooku fell to the dark side of the Force, disgruntled with the corrupt state of the Galactic Republic, and became Darth Tyranus, the apprentice Dark Lord of Darth Sidious, replacing Darth Maul, and eventually being replaced in turn by Darth Vader.

Taking on his birthright as Count of Serenno and the vast fortune that came with the title, Dooku formed the Separatist movement under Sidious's instruction. As political leader of the Confederacy of Independent Systems he led the organization against the Republic in a conflict that would become known as the Clone Wars.

He was slain in a duel by Anakin Skywalker during the Battle of Coruscant near the end of the crisis that he had helped instigate.

<i>"He is a wound in the Force, more presence than flesh, and in his wake life dies… sacrificing itself to his hunger." </i>
&#8213;Visas Marr

Darth Nihilus, the Lord of Hunger, was the Dark Lord following the Jedi Civil War and the main perpetrator of the First Jedi Purge, which drew the Jedi on the brink of extinction, he was one of the few survivors of the Battle of Malachor V, a spawn of the Mandalorian Wars. Betrayed by his own apprentice, a Miraluka by the name of Visas Marr, he fell in the Battle of Telos IV at the hands of the Jedi Exile, in 3,951 BBY.

<i> "My Master will not make Palpatine's mistake. All Jedi must die." </i>
&#8213;Darth Nihl

Darth Nihl was one of Darth Krayt's Sith warriors c. 130 ABY. A former Nagai warlord, Nihl had spent years as a feared scourge of the Unknown Regions until he was discovered and recruited into the fledgling new Sith Order by Darth Krayt.

Casting aside his former personal ambitions, Nihl embraced the Sith cause. He was intended to become the Fist, but instead became the first of Krayt's two Hands when his predecessor died, secretly carrying out his Master's will both outside and inside the Sith ranks. He was one of the only Sith under Krayt not to bear red and black tattoos, instead making use of his naturally white skin tone to mix with black tattoos.

According to legend, at some point Andeddu's body died, but he used the Force to keep controlling it, even though it had already begun decaying.

Lost in the annals of Sith history for many years, his holocron was recovered by Quinlan Vos and Tol Skorr sixteen months after the Battle of Geonosis as they attempted to gain favor with Count Dooku.

After extracting the knowledge stored in the holocron, Dooku disassembled the artifact and removed a deep red crystal used in Darth Andeddu's lightsaber, giving it to Vos.

In 137 ABY, Darth Krayt activated his holocron on Korriban (along with those of Darth Nihilus and Darth Bane) to seek advice on how to end the corruption of his body by the Yuuzhan Vong life. Andeddu rebuked him, calling him a heretic.

"Know that there was once a Darth Traya. And that she cast aside that role, was exiled, and found a new purpose. But there must always be a Darth Traya, one that holds the knowledge of betrayal. Who has been betrayed in their heart, and will betray in turn."
?Darth Traya

Kreia was a female Human Jedi Master during the time before the Mandalorian Wars, and later a Sith Lord under the alias Darth Traya, the Lord of Betrayal. Later in life, after she turned to the dark side, the traits that she had exhibited in her former profession suited her new role as master schemer and Sith Lord. Having been betrayed by both the Jedi and the Sith, she dreamt of revenge not toward both or either group but rather focused her ire toward what she truly felt had destined her for such betrayals: the Force itself.

Her story reached its climax when she found the Jedi Exile, a unique being who had the potential to bring her dream of revenge a step closer to fruition. But this plan came to nothing, as the Exile dueled and killed Darth Traya in the Trayus Academy.

Accurate
Palpatine, also known as Darth Sidious, was the last Supreme Chancellor of the Galactic Republic and the first Emperor of the Galactic Empire. He was also the final Dark Lord of the Sith who followed the Rule of Two and was considered by many to be the most powerful Sith Lord who ever existed. Palpatine was able to establish his Empire by concocting a complex master plan, which involved starting the Clone Wars, a galaxy-wide conflict that cost billions of sentient lives. Palpatine himself headed both the Galactic Republic and, secretly, the Confederacy of Independent Systems, which allowed him to prolong the conflict in order to gain more executive powers from the Senate.

When his power as Chancellor had reached its peak, Palpatine abolished the Republic and replaced it with the first Galactic Empire with himself as leader. With the Imperialization of the galaxy, Palpatine effectively had total control over its people, and was able to create one of the most powerful military forces the galaxy had ever seen. For nineteen years, Palpatine's rule would go relatively unopposed, until disgruntled former Imperial senators founded the Alliance to Restore the Republic. The Galactic Civil War would last for many years, but in 4 ABY, he was killed by Anakin Skywalker, his former Sith apprentice, during the Battle of Endor. However, this did not mean the end of the Empire.

His spirit traveled to Byss, where he inhabited a clone body that he had prepared beforehand. Six years after his first death at Endor, he launched a massive offensive from the Deep Core—one that came close to destroying the New Republic. The victories, however, would not last long, as Palpatine's clones were sabotaged by the former Emperor's Royal Guard, Carnor Jax. Palpatine was killed one final time during his attempt to possess Anakin Solo's body on Onderon, when, after Han Solo shot him, Empatojayos Brand, a former Jedi Knight, bound his soul to Palpatine's, dragging Palpatine deep into the depths of the Force

Side Step
Once a charismatic and intelligent Umbaran Jedi Master known as Phanius, Darth Ruin, as he came to be called, became one of the most influential Sith Lords in galactic history receiving recognition as one of the Lost Twenty. A renegade from the beginning, Ruin's career as a Jedi ended with the same event that began his career as the architect of the New Sith Wars: the theft of a Sith Holocron. With the Holocron's dark secrets, Ruin founded a new Sith Order: the Brotherhood of Darkness. Followers flocked to him, and, one thousand years before the Battle of Ruusan, Darth Ruin and his minions declared war on the Galactic Republic and its Jedi protectors. Though Ruin was eventually killed by the self-destructive nature of his own Order, his legacy would survive in the form of one thousand years of bloodshed, and, ultimately, the complete reformation of the Republic, the Jedi, and the Sith themselves. Like most Sith Lords, Darth Ruin's name is a derivatory, in this case, the derivatory is actually just the word ruin, which makes sense, as his "New Sith Order" nearly ruined the Sith's existence. In George Lucas' original notes for the history of the Star Wars Galaxy, Ruin was the very first Jedi to fall and the founder of the Sith.

"I'm a killer, too." - Zannah to Darth Bane

Darth Zannah was the first Sith apprentice in the Order of the Sith Lords, and the pupil of Darth Bane.

Born on Somov Rit, Zannah, known as Rain, was cousin to Root, Tomcat (Darovit) and Bug (Hardin). As a young girl, she was recruited to fight for Lord Hoth in the Army of Light during the fight on Ruusan. Upon her arrival on Ruusan, Rain was presumed killed when she fell out of the ship that was carrying her—unbeknownst to the Jedi, however, she was saved, and befriended, by the Bouncer Laa.

She was present at the Sixth Battle of Ruusan, when it was first prophesied that she would become a great Dark Jedi. After Laa and another Bouncer were killed by two Jedi, Rain was overcome with grief and lashed out in anger, killing the Jedi, and feeling the touch of the dark side. Shortly after this display of rage, she was found by Darth Bane, who decided to make the young girl his apprentice.

<i> "Fear. Fear attracts the fearful… the strong… the weak… the innocent… the corrupt. Fear. Fear is my ally." </i>
&#8213;Darth Maul

Darth Maul was a Dark Lord of the Sith and the first known apprentice of Darth Sidious. As a young child, Maul was taken by Sidious from an unknown world to be secretly tutored in the ways of the dark side of the Force. Growing up under this dark side tutelage of Darth Sidious, Maul became a very useful tool for his ambitious Master.

Maul was a master of Juyo, Jar'Kai, and Teräs Käsi, and chose to use a red double-bladed lightsaber for combat. In the years leading up to the Invasion of Naboo, Sidious had sent Maul on several political assassination missions, most notably against Black Sun, but Maul longed to fight and kill Jedi.

In 32 BBY, Maul was dispatched by Sidious to kill Jedi Master Qui-Gon Jinn and his Padawan, Obi-Wan Kenobi. After tracking them to Tatooine and then to Naboo, he engaged both Jedi during the Second Battle of Theed. Maul slew Jinn, but made a fatal mistake in underestimating Kenobi. After a brief but furious battle, Kenobi killed the Sith Lord by slicing him in half.

In 0 BBY, Darth Vader encountered and defeated a clone or dopplegänger of Maul created by the Secret Order of the Empire, possibly under orders from Palpatine.
