This cult worships Ranald, the god of luck and fortune. His adherents are thieves, tricksters and merchants and worshipped in gambling dens, taverns and drinking halls. Unsurprisingly, the symbol of Ranald is 'crossed fingers'.
A team dedicated to Ranald would be made up of those who understand the ways of the dice or the coin flip and therefore would likely be on balance a little 'luckier' than most teams. The more violent criminals are not interested in Ranald and so the team would likely have a more agile than strength roster.
The structure of the cult's organisation is loose and many Ranaldians work alone. Hence some of the positional players have the animosity trait.
Blessed By Ranald Trait
This trait gives the player a blessing from their god. Certain Orders of Ranald are so attuned to the roll of the dice, that they are able to almost predict how they will fall. However, sometimes they get it very wrong and their fickle god humbles them with a snake-eyes or two. To represent this, they have the Pro skill and the Decay trait. This represents the highs of great fortune and the lows when it all collapses on a the roll of two consecutive double skulls.
There are five main orders; No Orders, Crooked Fingers, The Brotherhood, The Crosses and the Givers of Coin.
Initiates of Ranald
The initiates tend to be gamblers and petty thieves who are looking to join an order, but have not quite decided where to go.
No Orders
Most cultists of Ranald do not belong to any official Order. They follow their own unique way of living out what it means to be an Ranaldian. Though they walk their own unique path, they happily band together for common goals. Like scoring touchdowns, ganging up to foul an opponent on the floor or even supporting their cultish team mates when blocking an oversized troll.
They are drawn from small time crooks, tricksters and con-artists. The type of criminal who could shadow their mark and persuade them to give up a bag of coins using wit, distraction and falsehoods.
To represent this, they have shadowing skill. They read their opponent's mannerisms and movements and can therefore better anticipate what they will do next. Having shadowing skill on a MA6 is not great, but if the movement allowance was any higher, it could create a very imbalanced team.
The Brotherhood
This order is made up of businessmen and merchants, who work together to make the most of any opportunities. They understand cooperation and have a more strategic outlook than others in the cult. To represent this, they have Leader skill.
Crooked Fingers
Those in the Order of the Crooked Fingers see Ranald more as the god of thieves and liars. They prefer to work alone as they do not trust anyone, apart from their god. They prefer to strike a victim from the shadows rather than to take them on face to face. They carry a concealed stiletto to ensure their attack is hidden.
All this builds a positional player who has the following skills: Shadowing, Stiletto (stab), Sneaky Git and Blessed by Ranald. But due to their problem with trusting their teammates, they also have Animosity.
The Crosses
This order mainly runs the cults gambling dens. They are well versed in understand the fickle nature of the universe and are unphased when the dice goes against them. To represent this they have the skill Nerves of Steel. As they run gambling dens, they know how to rig the games of chance to ensure a 'fair' outcome for the business. This is best represented by the Dirty Player skill.
They also are Blessed by Ranald.
Givers of Coin
This altruistic order focuses on righting wrongs. They steal from the rich and give to the poor. They are hated by the powerful and adored by the weak. They are agile and able to leap from roof to roof, in order to steal small fortunes from their unsuspecting victims. To represent this, they have the skills Leap, Dodge and Jump Up. They also are Blessed by Ranald. As the common people love these characters, they also have Fan Favourite.
Rerolls Even though this is a cult dedicated to Ranald, the god of luck and fortune, the rerolls are set at 70K. This is because most of the team prefer to work alone and also to take into account Ranald's fickle nature.
