I shocked myself today.
I got the master fouler award. How times have changed for me! Many coaches have understood 'fouler power' since they made their first team. Not I. It's taken a long time for me to figure it out. A LONG time...
Until recently, I had only a handful of fouls to my name and I hated fouling! Only in the worst bloodbaths, would the lure of the foul draw me in.
Today is different. Now I foul. I love the tactics of setting up an opponents star and then delivering that head smashing BOOT! It's a rush!
I imagine I am not the only one whom started out a stalwart non-fouler, only to later embrace it with open arms, legs, mouth...
Now... If I get the ref, then watch out!! I will foul, foul, foul!
If it moves, FOUL! If it talks, FOUL! If it farts, FOUL!
Not all of my teams use DP's. The ones that do, oftentimes only use them once or twice a game. Those 1x or 2x though, are aimed right at the heart of whatever team I am facing. Many teams have only a few players that the coach relies on, every game! I do NOT want them on the pitch! Say hello to my BOOT!
My favorite foul is the first one of the game! The unexpected one. It's the one that both(hopefully) removes the biggest, baddest player my opponent has, AND makes my opponent go, "Woaaahhh! This dude is gonna make me wear my A** for a hat!!"
The psychological effect of this first surprise foul can be fantastic!!
On the other hand, if it has no effect, your DP gets sent off, or both!
Well... Good luck to ya!
Yes! The foul can be a very serious tool in the right feet. One that has much controversy and notoriety. I wouldn't be surprised if the fumbbl forums are 90% foul posts. Rightly so! It's the FOUL! You are not meant to like it!
But not this little coach! I like it!
It's fun...
