The first mention of a giant spider team was in 2nd Edition book, Compendium.

The Spider King created a team with gold he found in his mountain lair. Over 900 spiders joined his team, but unfortunately they got ‘squashed’ by a dwarf team and never returned. Until the 2016 edition which mentions a giant spider team once again.

The NAF fact in Compendium gave key information about the characteristics of a giant spider team.

They have issues handling the ball, their natural game is pretty poor against dwarves and according to the 2016 edition, they are gruesome to look at.

Giant Spiders appear in the Forest Goblin team and so this lays out the stat line and skills for the giant spider position in the team. Logically, all the spider positions have either shadowing and tentacles or both. Additionally, the whole team is given Extra Arm to represent having many legs.

In the wider fantasy world, there are Gigantic Spiders too. These are huge in comparison with giant spiders, with some as big as a house. These can play the role of the big guy.

Giant spider hatchlings are small young spiders and take the lineman position. They are about 2-3 feet across. These are weaker than their larger siblings and as such their webs are not as strong, so will lose the tentacles skill but keep shadowing.

One of the main issues with this team is passing the ball, basically they can't. To express this within the current rules, their agility statistic is very low.

The armour is low to reflect the tendency of this team to get 'squashed'.

This team is a nightmare for teams with stunty and titchy players, but are likely to be very poor against bashy teams.

The team also doesn’t have single access to the General core skills, which may cause development issues.
