Once you've arranged a match in chat, you can get started. One of the two coaches has to start the client as "server" and the other joins as "client". This has no real bearing on the way the game is played, it's simply for the purposes of setting up the network connection.

There are two ways to host a game: direct connection or through a proxy server. Direct connection is preferable, as it is more stable and provides a faster connection without wasting bandwidth. Unfortunately, due to network configuration such as routers and firewalls, direct connection is not always possible for some coaches. In these cases you must use a proxy server.

Direct Connection Instructions:

If you are using the (play) link on fumbbl here are the directions:

For Server:

1) For "Proxy:" field, select the "No Proxy" option.

2) For "Proxy Game Name:" field, leave this blank.

3) For "Server:" field, enter your IP address.

4) For "Port:" field, leave default "8080" or change to another number.

5) Click Launch as Server.

The game should open and start waiting for a client to connect.

Here you need to tell your opponent your IP address and the port you selected.

For Client:

1) For "Proxy:" field, select the "No Proxy" option.

2) For "Proxy Game Name:" field, leave this blank.

3) For "Server:" field, enter the IP address your opponent gives you.

4) For "Port:" field, enter the port your opponent gives you.

5) Click Launch as Client.

The game should open and connect to the server.

Game play should be exactly the same now as any other type of connection.
