Undead Mummies:

Love to play undead but stop playing because your best mummies have been fouled to death?
Do you enjoy fun and bashy games but you always loose because your mummies are KO'd?
Do you always loose your matches due to a worthless rookie mummy?
Nyberg is going to help!

I'll try to give my best tip for you undead coaches out there. And I've chosen mummies.

Here is the situation:

Undead Mummies:

Ma St Ag Av Inj

 3 5 1 9

Skills: Regenerate, Mighty Blow
Cost: 110k

Do you need mummies in your starting roster?

Of course you do. Mummies are strong and bashy. They are awesome at low TR with their high strength and their ability to hurt players. In addition, with assistance from a screen of zombies, your mummies will constantly get 3 dice on blocks/blitzes.
The best way to skill mummies up is to cas with em. Try to get 3d blocks until they get Block. Mummies at low TR with block is one of your key players. But you have to use them right.

Best way to use a mummy:

There's many ways to use mummies, and I'll tell you about the way i use them. In offense and in defense.
Otherwise, my best tip how to use a mummy is to kill players ;) One very good thing to now is that mummies and zombies work very well together.
They slowly clears the pitch from players. Mummies with their fists and zombies with their feet.
I refer to zombies as "the cleaning crew".

Mummies in Offense:

We all now that undead ain't elfballers. I rarely score in 2 or 3 turns with my undead team, it's too risky and it's always better to have more players on the pitch than your opponent.
With that learned, we can say that mummies will be placed on the LoS to get free blocks. The following turns is quite important.
You need to get your mummies forward so you can protect the ball with them. Well, you don't have to cage the ball carrier with 2 mummies, but you can move them forward so they can help out.
There might be a risk that they are stuck with a lineman in the middle of the pitch. Try to get him free or, the easy way, keep your ball carrier close to your mummies!
With mummies around your ball carrier, there are very few defenses you can't block your way trough.

Mummies in Defense:

Ok, here is one important thing I see too often with undead coaches. Mummies are your key players, remember that, _NEVER_ put them on LoS!!
Let's think in for a second, what is the first thing you want to do when you are facing undead?
Get your opponents best mummy down and foul the hell out of him!
To be honest, that's what should do. So, lesson number one: Never put your mummies on LoS!
The negative aspect of a mummy is their speed (or lack thereof). Movement 3 isn't very 'blitzerish'. Try to place them close to the innerlines, a bit back, on the pitch. This way, your two mummies can cover the entire LoS when it comes time for your turn. If you are Facing bashers often you shall get your mummies into the opponents players by blitzing or just moving. They are strong and big which means that they often stands tall.

Here are a few examples for mummies in defense:

Example 1: Place your mummies close to the innerline and not to far away the LoS. They can reach out on the side and into the field.

Example 2: Same situation as example1. The only difference is that they don't reach so long on the sides. Mostly used vs more bashy and slow teams.

Example3: Close and compact. Your mummies can reach to LoS. Your other players can backup and run forward. I like this setup when you get blitz :) This setup are good vs bashers.

Skill selection:

Mummies have Regeneration and Mighty Blow from start. To be honest, mummy only need a few skills to work great for the team.
Mummies have General and Strength access, which means they can take guard and other great skills. First skill on mummies, no double or stat increase, would be block.
Second skill, provided there is no double or stat increase, is guard since undead lack strength access and need guard a lot. St5, block, guard is really nice. Now, they are as good as they need to be.

Undead teams are best in lower tr. Mummies with Regeneration, Mighty Blow, Block, Guard at low tr is awesome. When they reach higher TR mummies get more skills they usually don't need.
Well ok, Break tackle and Mulitple Block can be very good, but you don't use those skills as often as you will use Block or Guard.
So, here's my list for skills:

First skill:

  • Normal: Block
  • Double: Side Step - Mummies are Strong and they often stands tall. If your opponent cant get them down, you can pick where you want them. If he's pushed over you can prevent a group foul. This skill rocks on mummies. Avoid Stand Firm. Anything that can knock a mummy over already has the assists to take him out!

Second skill:

  • Normal: Guard
  • Double: Side Step, Dodge - Dodge and sidestep is totally amazing. Every opponent secretly wants to foul a mummy, but they must get him down first!

Third, Fourth and Fifth Skill:

  • Normal: Break Tackle, Multiple Block, Tackle - Pick the skill you think would work best for your team.
  • Double: Sidestep, Dodge, Frenzy - I don't really know what skill you shall take if you get three doubles in a row. But here is where I think frenzy would be ok.

Stat increases:

  • Move: Always take the +ma increase. Mummies are really slow, so they do need more movement. With move 4 you can blitz without Gfi for example. As shocking as this sounds... MA increases are more useful then ST increases to mummies.
  • Agility: Never take agility on mummies, they don't need it.
  • Strength: Always take the ST increase on mummies. With ST6, Multiple Block becomes a very good second skill.

Nigglings and other injuries:

Try to replace mummies with nigglings as soon as possible. Injuries as -AV and -AG you can live with for a while.
-Av would kill him faster tho. So, he retires himself later. -Ag is like no injury. With ag1 they are still worthless ball carriers.
-MV is really bad on a mummy. With a movement of 2, he has to roll a stand-up roll. Try to replace him as soon as possible.

Good Luck all undead coaches.
