Tomb Guards

The ancient dead of Nehekhara have stirred once more, their legions marching in lockstep for one purpose and one alone: playing Blood Bowl! At least, it is now. They're soldiers from when the world was wracked by endless war, and they bring that military discipline and ferocity to the pitch in fine style. Their memories of pitched battle make them remarkably cool under pressure, relying on group tactics and skilled brawling and footwork to carry the day. Even their gigantic embalmed comrades move with a subtle grace quite absent from other Nehekharan players; they're professionals, and they're here to restore that professionalism on the field of honour.

Rationale

This is a Khemri-style team that doesn't rely on the raw strength output of its Mummies. It's also a very bash-heavy team, but based on skills rather than stats; it's also an attempt to see just how good Pro can be as a cover for stats. The mass Wrestle allows for pitch control, while there's also enough Block to get knockdown SPP when you need it. Give them a try! =]

Players

Skeleton Guards

The Tomb Guards linemen trade Thick Skull for Wrestle, making them expensive for skellies at 50k but much more useful. This makes them very good at fouling; getting an expensive enemy blitzer on the floor is an invitation to gang-foul them into the dirt, and they can do it very reliably when both attacking and defending.

Tomb Guards

Souped-up super-skellies, these positionals start with both Block *and* Wrestle. This might seem superfluous, but it means you can still get an expensive enemy piece on the floor in the event of a Block tie, plus you can still use Block on things that don't have it! It also means they're versatile sackers, especially since they can have Tackle and Strip Ball at 16SPP, but you're probably best off building them with Guard and choosing to stay upright. However, you do get four of them, so there's plenty of room to experiment.

Guardian Block-Ras

These are the first of the Pro players, and they're excellent LoS players. Stand Firm means they're not going anywhere, allowing you to block most one-turn attempts, while Block keeps them upright and Pro means they're able to generate rerolls to retain momentum on those pesky double skulls. They're MA6 and AV9, meaning they're hard to put down and difficult to stop; consider building them Guard first and then Mighty Blow and Tackle to enhance their stickiness and revenge hit potential.

Guardian Blitz-RasThe fastest players on your roster, your Blitz-Ras are excellent at sniping targets. Starting with Block and Tackle means they're knocking most players down on a 4+, while they're also fast enough to make two-turn touchdowns viable. However, their chief downside is a lack of S access on normals - it might not be what you want on a blitzing piece, but it's what you've got. Instead, you get GA, so Blodgestep is a priority. Mighty Blow is probably the best skill on a Double, because it's not like you're hurting for Guard.

Great Guardian

This is your big guy, and something you'll notice that's an upgrade from the standard Tomb Guardian isn't the strength - it's the *agility*. AG2 with Pro means that a Great Guardian actually has a 62.5% chance of picking up the ball, and at ST5 it'll be a job of work to knock him down and get it off him. Pro also lets the player reroll those pesky 1 in 9s on a 2-die block, or the 1 in 27s on a 3-die that you'll easily be able to scrounge up after getting some Guard. Of course, Pro's best for greed rather than need after your first skill-up, because you get GS access on this player and that means Block, Mighty Blow, Tackle, and Guard. In that order.
