Hello Fellow Bowlers,
I have played probably 10-15 league and stand alone games and want to know what you think is the best configuration for my High Elf team. I know Dragon Warriors (Blitzers) are expensive and certainly helpful, but I am really having issues with having one or two and still fielding a roster with decent FF. So I have thought over several ideas and here are my thoughts with each team. Also, I will purchase my apothecary after the first match.
A. 2 Dragon Warriors, 1 Phoenix Warrior, 1 Lion Warrior, 7 Lineman, 2 ReRolls, 4 Fan Factor
- Solid players distribution, power and speed, but low FF...
B. 1 Dragon, 1 Phoenix, 1 Lion, 8 Lineman, 2 RR, 7 FF
- One less Blitzer, add a Liner, boost FF
C. 1 Dragon, 1 Phoenix, 9 Lineman, 2 RR, 9 FF
- No Catcher here, team will be slower, get rich with FF
D. 1 Dragon, 1 Phoenix, 2 Lions, 7 Lineman, 2 RR, 5 FF
- 2 Lions keep speed high, must be determined with Lineman, decent FF
So here you go, oh great and might strategists! Please lemme know what you think. Right now I am leaning towards Team B or Team D
Thanks for any input, Impaladan |

I can recommend the same lineup I use for a starting dark elf team (just make it trough the first game and hope for 50k for an apo):
2 Blitzers
9 Linemen
2 Rerolls
7 FF
no apothecary
A thrower is not realy needed for a starting team i think, and this way you can skill your linemen up faster by letting them make completions. The catchers you can buy later, they will score easily and get spp fast. Once you get the catchers, you probably won't use your blitzers for scoring that much (but more for blitzing crucial opponent players), so it is good to have them both in the team from the start, so they can skill up fast. Two good blitzers is essential for a HE team imo. You also don't start with AV7 players which your opponent can target all game this way.
Doesn't look spectacular, but becomes a real solid team pretty fast this way. |

4-5FF is too low for a team intended for the long term, IMHO. Unless you're lucky on the gate and injury rolls, you'll lose players faster than you can afford to hire replacements.
That leaves options B & C - I'd go with C because
(a) The +2FF will go on paying back for a long, long time.
(b) Your Linemen are decent enough catchers for a starting team.
(c) One Lion will be an obvious target for the opposition.
(d) If the Lion does turn out to be worth it, he'll tend to hog all the scores, which unbalances the team development.

FF 9
10 merry linemen
1 positional
2 rerolls
Only starting lineup worth a damn in the long run.
FF 7 and 2 positionals sounds cool and all, but you have to realise that
-one bad ff roll will shaft your team
-lots of kickoff results shafft the team with lower ff [RR anyone? or heavens forbid THE REF? ]
FF 4, well - no comment. No agility teams will play you - one bad cas roll can leave you short a player AND the money to replace him ;/
Thrower is not needed at all until you purchase some catchers, blitzers.
In first couple of games adopt dark elves playbook - short passes for spps and running the ball in for a score. Later on develop the passing game HE are famous for. |

8 FF
3 RR
11 linos
This way you start out with more rr (since the price doubles after you make the team). The winnings you get from your first match SHOULD be enough to buy an apoc.
After that, get a dragon warrior or three, then possibly a thrower, then work on some catchers. The winning forumla early on is to have developed linos, so concentrate of skilling them and not relying soly on blitzers or catchers to do stuff.
I know it may sound slow at the start, but if you want to be good later on and not have an early spp sponge, 11 linos are the best. Plus catchers (as example) have av7, so they are prone to being injured. Imagen him getting hurt in your 1st match! Now ur down to 10 and your team is set back a few matches! |

I start like that too. Not perfect, perhaps. |

I like 11 linos, 8ff and three rerolls for my starting elf teams.
