Guys, quick tip needed. Is it worth wasting a double and taking +MA on a DE lineman. It is his first skill and the team is not very developed yet.

I was thinking to take guard otherwise for the double... What do you think?

I'd take guard.

And start with a higher FF and not bother with the witch early on.

do not take +ma on a darkie lino for 1st skill.... on a double, guard for sure (or dauntless if you have LOTS of guard and play blackbox)

do not even take +ma on a darkie lino on 4,6 for first skill (some will disagree but their are WRONG (imho).... your linos need all the nice skills block, dodge, sidestep and even kick, dp, tackle and sure hands if you dont have a thrower.... +ma is great for blitzer and witches (and dp linos...or linos with specila skills like leap/strip ball but not for normal linos

if its a 6+4 roll i would take +ma reason being Darkies suffer from being the slowest elfs (tied with pro, but only just) around. +MA followed by block and you have a new blitzer. All my darkies seem to roll are +ma's.

And as an over result i have had 14 Linemen and out of that 6 have rolled +ma! But also taking Ma at a lower tr team could be a different decesion all together an an elf with either Kick/DP/Tackle may be better skills to use at say tr100ish.

How are darkies tied with pro elves for slowest elves? Pro elves have 4 ma 8 catchers.

And I'm really not trying to put you down, but I don't see how your darkies' record supports your argument that +MA for linos is a better choice than a normal skill.

As for me, I think the linos benefit from normal skills more than the +MA. Giving a lino +MA and block doesn't make him a new blitzer. The reason the blitzers are good is that they get these skills from the start and are only 6 SPPs away from dodge and 16 away from tackle or whatever. Meanwhile, the +MA, block lino is 15 SPPs away from dodge and 35 away from tackle.

I would take the +MA on the positionals, however.

So take the +ma (on a 6+4) and give him Dirty Player on his next roll.
On the 5+5 I should prefer Guard, Dauntless or Mighty Blow.

5+5 means guard on linos.

4+6 is usually +MA for me. There is a big difference between 6 and 7. Even if they're nothing special, they can provide support for the stars.

I think +MA is underrated in general, not just for DEs.

For me, and I'm not saying you should do this, but I would....

Take +ma on a 4 and 6 unless I was desperate for block (I don't really understand how to get the best use out of dodge on darkies, so 70% of the time go block).

I wouldn't take +ma on a double, guard as said is the right choice.

However (and nobody is going to agree with this) if I took +ma on the first roll, and on the second or another roll I rolled double 5s I would take the +ma.

Ma 8 linos surprise people and I get a real buzz out of catching people out like that. Probably a dodge/guard player would be better at this stage, but not as fun to use. Wink

Don't take +MA on rookie Linos. The DE roster has 6 positionals that start with 7 MA.

+MA on a Rookie lino adds something like +4 TS to your roster for what gain? If your player is stuck in TZs or used just for blocking somewhere, what does that +4TS give you? It gives you an extra DP/kick/block etc on the opponent's roster that he is using against you instead (when you have similar TS).

+MA on a MA6 player is rated more in TS than Block/Dodge/Guard, so I would not take it, and I have played almost 350 DE games on here. You can always GFI that missing MA (needing a 2+).. You can't reroll your opponent's SKull/Pow on your, or their Pow without Dodge block on you if you have Block or Tackle respectively. Guard will also help get you more two dice blocks etc.
