Apply a decay weakly to the CR of all coatches.

For example: apply a -1 to all coaches over 150 (until they reach 150)

This will slowly take down peope that are not playing active.

This way the ranking will be more the ranking of active coaches, not the ranking of all who ever played.

just an idea

Coaches who have not played an eligible game in a period of time (not sure if it is 1, 3 or 6 months - the admin team will know this) do not appear in the ranking list - their CR is dormant until they play an eligible game again.

for instance:

Fischerking should be #2
http://fumbbl.com/~FischerKing

but as you can see he doesn't appear
http://fumbbl.com/FUMBBL.php?page=coaches

his last game was in february, and he hasn't been in the lists for a while.

CR, unless the rules change, does not change over time from not playing (if a coach was really good 6 months ago, chances are he still is)

I really don't see the point in decay, the current action of removing the coach from the ranking is still a better option

playing constantly would be a duty... duties are no fun.... you play games for fun... if a game is no fun it's pointless to play it :/...

...or said differently: I wouldnt play every day if I actually had to keep the CR high...

....also consider this: CR is not only a measurer of skill but also a good measurer for the abilities of a coach to pick the right opponents.... so it tells you, who you gotta be carefull about.....

also I don't see the system getting any more accurate with this..... it's maybe true at best that inactive coaches should be removed earlier from the list... (I think it's more then a month)

After 3 months, a coach is removed from the ranking. I feel, this could be cut down to 1 month, but the CR dacay leads to a steadily degrading total CR, which in turn means, that CR150 won`t be the average any longer.

Besides.. I hope you mean that the CR decay only takes place, if a coach doesn`t play at least 1 game within a week. Else people would struggle hard to get above 150 at all after a while, because everyone would have been eroded to 150 - and most of them below it. The new equilibrium would probably be a few 30-50 coaches around 150 with the rest of FUMBBL in the 120ies or lower on average.

I did not know that people get off the list when they are some months away.
So the threat has no sense.

And in fact is good to see the CR of a coach to know his potential.
