FINALLY - someone who doesn't think that Tiny Steel Hammers are going to run away with this qualifier. Razz

(note: I get to play Tiny Steel Hammers in R1 with my weaksauce slann that I didn't have time to build up nearly enough. Ah well, good times!)

EDIT:

I might be biased by it being in my qual (Golden Lantern), but this looks like an awesome match:

Saltimbanquis cabreados (TV 2350 Slann, Nestoroide)
vs.
Frogabilly (TV 2230 Slann, Tarabaralla)

Two huge frog teams with top coaches promises a well-played, entertaining game with a unique play-style and constant threats of scoring, both ways.

Agreed! I am looking forward to watching that one.

Piggy's -Hot 5tuff looks like they could leave lots of teams in the dust as they race through their games to the championship

Hot 5tuff vs CrossDressers is probably the pick of the 1st round games...

The girls warmed up hitting colibris (violetears) with steelgauntlets all afternoon...

Dorothy, now 154 games with 60% of all of fouls ever for the team, claims: "Less than three treehuggers isnt a problem for us". For the first time ever I think she might be wrong if they turn out to be dancers from the "pigstar-breed".

** Milford from the Ulthuan Invitational **

(TAKE THAT YOU JACK WADS!)

Well the opening days of the tournament are on the way and the matches are coming at us at a good pace. This weekend is going to be glorious. The first weekend of any major is allways exciting and fun.

The first few days and the blow outs are falling like mana from the sky. I dont know if it was just mismatches in the opening round or some teams were just not ready to compete. All I know is that yesterday when I was specing the matches we had 3 matches going all at once and all 3 were blow out matches, no bueno, BUT it was fun none the less.

Humanity is making a big push in this one. 16 teams showed up and if they dont get atleast 2 teams in the main draw it will be a disaster. The top Human teams in terms of TV are in tourney and not one of them has been "bumped" yet. So it is looking good so far.

Steel Lantern Qualifer is on warpstone roids or some such. Piling Razors are allready in the finals for the qualifier. So if that was a qualifier you had circled to watch and you missed the first 2 days of the tourney. Well you just missed half the games in the qualifier allready.

Taking a look at the breakdown of the brackets and we have 2 or 3 of them just stacked with serious talent. It is going to be a dog fight of titanic proportions in those brackets to come out of qualifier. Some teams will have to be playing in main draw form just to get to the final of their qualifier bracket. I only see 2 brackets that looking at paper will be a "walk" for the front runner.

Iam going to be watching the Tiny Steel Hammers a lot this tourney. I really think they are a stacked team and has a shot at pulling out the back to back major win to tie the Eaters as the only team to do that feat. They should be able to get out of qualifier with out any hickups and then it comes down to the main draw. How many CLPOMB monsters in a row do they have to face or do they have to run a gauntlet of elf ball to reach the end. It should be very interesting.

Be sure to get your Altdorf Book and Casino picks in before the end of Monday. You dont want to miss out on that action.

Shortest run ever for the Kestrels who just couldnt get much right. The dorfs however cought all 3 free bounces heh.
Léonir "the superman" got standing applause after the game from the home crowd however as he decided its time to say thank you and retire.

Major rebuild will likely take some time.

Thx for the support fans!

My Sunken Horrors have not come up short against the biggest TV team of the UI: they were facing Sexy Vicius in Ogreland, and the whole match, including OT, saw no TD scored at all. They have performed admirably, considering they were outmatched by a 1000TV.

Unfortunately, I lost the following cointoss - and got eliminated exactly the same way as in the Warpstone Open, by cointoss. Alas, it seems to be a curse!

The Squadron XXIII took down the fantastic Popes of Mope in a typical elf game with lot's of balls!

A pity SvenS's Diving Kestrels were eliminated I would have liked to meet them in the final (if we manage to get rid of those pesky dwarves...)

This will be a hard tournament for the Squadron's short ranks.

Perhaps some of the people picking the Obsisian Lantern simply went with the team most recently in a Majors final bracket. Perhaps they're just foolish. But whoever picked my Chaos Waste Crushers to win the Obsisian Lantern over Tuamadre's freakish SIX clawpomb chaos needs to have their heads examined.

Supposing I get past my first round Khemri opponent, I foresee some serious rebuilding after my Rd 2 match.

Oh my the first round of action is a slughterfest! Big name teams and coaches getting punched out of the tourney left and right. Some got diced, others spit the bit and some were just down right ugly matches. But one thing is the same, they got the boot and took it in the butt. The specs were in shock and the die hard fans of these clubs are up in arms looking for a coaches head in a noose or still in a daze staggering out of the local bar wondering what just happened.

Here is the rundown so far of notables heading home early.

Ultimate Mr. Men Coach PeteW better have a good excuse for this one. The fans back home are forming up a lynching party.

Sleeper in Metropolis The Necro team that just will not go away is sent packing.

Popes of Mope Get the elfball reversed on them. -2 Rep points for the Popes, they are not supposed to get elfballed out of tourney, thats there game.

Diving Kestrels Old World to Kestrels, Old World to Kestrels. Were are you? The rumor is that the real Kestrel players are being held by a mad dwarf wizard and the players were replaced with J-men in their uniforms for the opening round match. That wizard made a killing at the Book when he got 45-1 odds on a straight up upset pick over the Kestrels. He is one rich wizard today. So crime does pay I quess.

Agility Monsters The lovable dwarfs get bashed and smashed into kibble bits. The fans of the Monsters are wondering if maybe we should have atleast one dedicated "killer" on the team. This is becoming embarrising that their team is getting out bashed. Dwarf pride can only take so much, even if it is stubborn pride.

Dont miss the action this weekend and maybe the list of notables will increase after this weekend of matches.

Well it seems ABC keep seriously overestimating Grimsby Town BloodBowl Teams chances as their group consists of 2 very good Wood Elf teams and the mighty Crossdresser, but hey word, from the GTBBT camp is the coach is using the picks to motivate the team into defying the odd's (and proving the bookies right) by advancing to the finals.

** Breaking news from the UI **

Rakes Chasing Maids got a nice victory in the opening round but it cost them. In the celebration that ensued afterwards back at their hotel it seems all the room service maids have been turned into thralls. Once the manager found out what had happened to his staff he confronted the Rakes. Well lets say he met a gruesome end. BUT that incident set off a powder keg.

Word of the Rakes "party" spread and in 2 hours a mob of torch wielding peasents showed up at the hotel. 3 Hours later the Rakes were scrambling for their lives and their posh hotel was set on fire.

They are currently living/hiding in the local graveyard. They want no part of that loonie mob chasing them around.

How will this effect their "game" in the second round?
