So my next LC game is against Kryten's horrible looking orcs:
https://fumbbl.com/p/team?op=view&team_id=685067
I suffered a -MA golem in my 1st round game, here's the team:
https://fumbbl.com/p/team?team_id=469526
I'm just debating whether to keep or fire the golem.
Pros for keeping: basically this is a 'look ahead' to the next game. That alone makes me apprehensive about keeping the golem - focus on winning the 2nd round game first, looking ahead is dangerous and this orc team is going to be very tough to beat. The golem is not a 'key' player, albeit the guard is a nicety. I also get a babe and a bribe as inducements (see below) as opposed to choosing between the two.
Cons for keeping: one less stand firm against a juggernaut-less orc team. One less ST4 against an ST4 filled team. I often feel that golems are the undervalued hard workers of Necromantic teams. They hold up play, allowing the rest of the team to do its thing behind them. Their toughness (AV9, thick skull) means they take a thumping compared to the rest of the team. Without that ST4, I fear I may simply get overrun.
It's looking like 320TV difference (pre-firing) at the moment unless Kryten fires a player (unlikely).
Option 1: New golem, fire a zombie - becomes 250TV inducements. That's a wizard and a bribe or babes. 14 man roster with all positionals. (Or could keep the zombie and have a wizard and babe as inducements and a 15 man roster.)
Option 2: Keep, 320TV inducements, which would be a wizard, a bribe, and a babe or a merc zombie. 14 man roster but missing a golem. |

Keepz, if nothing else you'll need the block/guard if you beat him. |

Asking me what I would do isn't too relevant because I'm a completely different life-form to you. But if instead of me being myself I was you - then I'm fairly sure I would fire him. |

If you had a cherry this round, I'd keep him. But you're up against Kryten with a very good orc team. Without a golem I think he'll win the grind. |

A fire golem sounds great but I don't know what his stats would be. |

He would have the skill 'burning touch' - +1 to casualty roll. |

Short term to help you get pass Kryten I would say fire, personally I would keep as a block guard FG is going to much more use to you long term if you beat him. Take Wilhelm and have fun |

Fire Golem can be cast continuosly to cause fire splash damage. Remember to spam bone prison to non-teleport monsters. For Baal, skeletons will keep him occupied.

its a tournament and Kryten is one damn good coach so chainy would need all the help he can get. What good is a move 3 golem if your run ends before you can use him. |

I reckon you have a better shot at winning the tournament if you keep him.
A rookie golem won't make that much difference to this game but your skilled golem will make a difference in future games, imo.
Option 2 looks best.
Those side stepping BOB's look a pain. good luck! |

Setekh + Bribe ain't a bad shout if you want to keep the golem and get an extra St4, with Block, for this game. But giving up the Wiz is a tough one. |

By tournament, you mean the qualifer (8 team tournament) right? Otherwise if you mean the LC whole, the 'chance' of me winning is so insignificant that increasing that chance by a tiny amount doesn't mean anything to me.
As for the qualifier, I'm already 1 game further in than I expected. (I caught happygrue on a bad day.) |

Option 1 every time. Fire him, he's done. Have your power on field NOW, and likely it still wont be enough to beat Kryten. Wiz+ bribe knowing your play style with that team. Wiz+babes if it were me. |
