I don't think even the Urlso Press could spin a positive light on what the Bears are going through this season... |

@Tomay - yeah tell me about it. Coming off th back of an entertaining weekend of BB that slipped away over in Auckland as well. Lessons learnt, tighter season ahead
@DDS - ouch. Might have to watch that game later. Never would have picked a 5-0 blow out!
Question - are we still 4 seasons before retirement or back to 3 please? |

The Unicorns, Yhetees and Panthers have kicked off with 100% winrates after two games.
Griffins, Phoenix, Anvils, Chevaliers & the Pride can equal them, but can they handle the pressure? |

Round 2 in the Books (mostly)
Debby Demonbreeder – Sports Reporter for the Altdorf Daily
In group A, The Griffins outclassed the Forgesmiths who struggled to keep up after losing their sole runner early in the game. The Forgesmiths weakness was exposed as they struggled to move the ball with a team of longbeards. The Unicorns may have put the final nail in the Bears golden period after the merger with a 5-0 thumping including 4 serious injuries to the Bears players. The Unicorns look likely to emerge as the other contender from the Shifting Isles with some strong performances to start the season.
In group B, the Gold Wings showed a little promise under head coach Karnov who has certainly been training them to block. However, it wasn’t enough as the Panthers were able to score twice, a feat which is hard to match for dwarves in the CBBA. Donnerhammer was the standout star for the Panthers, cracking through the tough dwarven armour to remove a few of them from the pitch and open up the field for crucial scores. The Phoenix were simply too classy for the Harlequins, demonstrating their superiority with a 4-1 scoreline, inflicting a few casualties (including a death) along the way. While the Harlequins were outmatched, all hope is not lost as the team looks to a rebuilding period to focus on the future seasons.
In Group C, the upset of the round was a victory from the NCU Gunners over the Wolfenburg Bulls who looked so good in round 1. No one expected the Gunners to put their new look team together so quickly, but coach Smegish has proven everyone wrong with a well drilled team that managed a 2-1 victory despite being on the end of some powerful hitting. The might of the Ox and the Bull was not enough to overcome the passing game of the Gunners. Springthorn and Roserock are no longer with us after the Eagles hung in against the Anvils to clutch onto a costly draw while their team was decimated on the pitch. Eagles fans can rejoice however in the courage that their players showed to hold onto a draw against the high flying Anvils.
In Group D, a dour game between the Chevaliers and Buccaneers finally ended in a 1-0 victory for the Buccs. There wasn’t much to report on in this one as the home town crowd boo’ed both teams off the pitch at the end of the game. Len the Late managed to tuck the ball under his arm and leg it to the endzone to win and upset the home fans. In an old fashioned shoot out the Pride once again lost a game they shouldn’t have against the Outlaws. Leon Todmeister threw two long passes that lead to touchdowns while The Crusher ran in two touchdowns. Could there be a few stars emerging for the Outlaws? The Pride managed to score themselves but failed to capitalise on crucial opportunities to put the game away… eventually it was taken from them.
In Group E, the Scorpions are having a tough time negotiating safe passage with the Great Dragons to the game in Altdorf. The CBBA have been called upon to negotiate an arrangement to allow the game to be played at either a neutral venue or to enhance security around the venue. In the other game, the Yhettis demonstrated their professionalism, despatching the Manticors 3-0, once again demonstrating their professionalism in a classy performance. Arnevik can be credited as the major contributor, removing players from the pitch at key times to open up room to move the ball. |

Griffins After Newpelt for Coaching Gig
Debby Demonbreeder – Sports Reporter for the Altdorf Daily
The Moot today was buzzing with excitement as head coach of the RAU Griffins, Tomay came to town on a visit. Once word got out that the legendary coach was coming to town a greeting party quickly assembled to catch a glimpse of the most powerful coach in the CBBA and his entourage.
It soon became evident that Coach Tomay was not in the Moot solely for publicity, as he stopped in to legendary Mootland Cockerel, Fox Newpelts home. While no one was able to ascertain exactly what was discussed, the rumour mill went into overdrive speculating that the Griffins were offering Newpelt a position as an Assistant Coach.
The Altdorf Daily will keep you updated as the story progresses. |

Phoenix v Panthers Set to be a Blockbuster
Debby Demonbreeder – Sports Reporter for the Altdorf Daily
The upcoming game between the Ulthuan State Phoenix and the Talebheim Panthers could go a long way to deciding who makes the CBBA Bowl at the end of the season. The Phoenix are as hot as they come right now, extending their winning streak with 2 from 2 to start the season. Meanwhile, the Panthers have finally put it together and will be representing the Empire in an effort to halt the momentum.
Klaus Donnerhammer will have a lot to say in the final outcome of the match. If he can maintain his early season form it could prove to be the hitting power that is required to take out the Phoenix and peg them back. On the other hand, if the Phoenix can escape the damage, there isn’t a team in the CBBA that can contain them at the moment. This one ladies and gentlemen, will be a cracker! |

ULTHUAN BULLETIN
After a stellar start to the season, the Phoenix continue to live up to their name by rising further and further from the disappointment that was Season 1. Team morale is high as they move into the last round of this touring leg.
"We have the finest team in the Association," scoffed Captain Moranian when asked for comment. "Even our newest player is worth two of any player in any other team. We beat the best the humans had to offer in the Bowl last season - the only way I can see us losing this next match is if the dirty Talebheim apes smell so badly we are distracted from our game - a very real threat I may add."
Ayre Imbryl, the final-hour team addition in the Bowl last season, is looking to be a real up-and-comer, being awarded the MVP in his first match ever. "I honestly do not know what the fuss is about with this game," he noted. "It certainly has not been a difficult sport to master. Just take the ball to the end zone, it is not difficult! I am just looking forward to going home for the next leg. It will be a great opportunity to have at least some challenge against some teams more at our own level of elegance and finesse."
It looks like another walk in the park for Coach Tyrai - surely he will lead our champions to victory once again! |

Good luck, Griffins...it seems that Fox's pro career is going from strength to strength: https://fumbbl.com/p/player?player_id=10168079
Not sure if the little f#$@ will want to take on an assistant coaching gig, but hey, stranger things have happened...

Great Dragons Refuse to Travel to Altdorf
Debby Demonbreeder – Sports Reporter for the Altdorf Daily
The Caledor Great Dragons have today been sanctioned by the CBBA for refusing to travel to Altdorf amid concerns about player security. While many other teams have made the trip to the Scorpions home ground, the Great Dragons refused to deal with the hostility of the largest crowd in the CBBA. The CBBA has abandoned the match, awarding the Scorpions points for a default victory and issuing an official warning to the Great Dragons. |
