Hey all,
I want to try a new project to run alongside my story one.
The idea being that I am aiming to play in the style of the Four Nations team from the Secret League.
Given players don't start with the skills of that team, the skill progression must include Dump Off and Nerves of Steel but they might not be the first two skills chosen. I would follow the positions as closely as possible in terms of restricting who fits what positional slot and giving them the skills required as per the team listed. But they will need survival skills sprinkled in. I have chosen wrestle as (to me) it fits the aesthetic of rugby better than block. Also, I know agility skills are doubles for Marauders but I placed it in there as those skills would need to be chosen. Please note that this list is intended IN ORDER so if you have a good Idea then please post it IN ORDER that they should take the skills you select.
Here is the skill path in my head:
Trial skill path:
Linemen - Wrestle, Dump Off, Nerves, Tackle, Fend.
Full Back - Wrestle, Tackle, Dump Off, Nerves, KoR. Maybe Fend instead of KoR? But I want to fit the intended fluff.
Half Backs - Wrestle, Kick (?), Dump Off, Nerves, Tackle, HMP/Fend. Kick could be taken ahead of Dump Off on one of them. Also, I am not sure that HMP is a good skill to be taking at all unless you start with it. Possibly one could have it.
Forwards - Wrestle, Dump Off, Diving Tackle/Dauntless, Tackle, NoS. Nos to come last as I feel that forwards usually aren't the most elegant players and would only be good passers when they became experienced.
Wings - Dump Off, Nerves, Wrestle, Tackle, Sprint/Fend.
Dodge to be taken on doubles (probably).
Anyway, I am looking for some input. Looking at the Four Nations team, how would you do this? Finally, before anyone pooh-poohs the idea of Marauder only Pact, there is a clear kind of vibe that the Four Nations team is going for. With that in mind, I suppose it is unlikely any players would mutate. However, if you think they should then convince me!
Thanks all. I think this could be a lot of fun.
What do you think? |

I remember playing against a team of all lino dump off elves, called to me to you. Loved the concept but looked a hard one to play. Mutations wouldn't be an issue as long as you could rationalise a reason for the skill fluff wise. AG3 dump off could be bloody hard work though, I'd be tempted by all elf lino instead to make it possible for it to work more reliably. |

Im pretty sure there was a pact team that played dump-off. Can't remember who did it though. |

Why so much Nerves of Steel? It's not the nr1 skill that comes to my mind with Rugby.
Stand firm as players pile into a tackle. Very long legs for the throw-in.
Dumpoff/wresle makes sence and NOS makes sense for the Halfback and fullback.
KOR is a must for the Fullback and wings!
Guard seems appropiate. |

Lolz, when I started out all my teams were based on Rugby teams. A baller Pact team seemed to fit Harlequins. Bath were Nurgle.
Leicester Tigers were orcs |

Much like all-zombies is hard work?
And the issue is it has to follow the Four Nations team as closely as possible. So I need Pact for the access to get the skills they need to have. |

Any Elf linemen get P access on normal rolls? If not it would be a long and hard process...
Interesting idea though. Might investigate. |

Not an expert of rugby, but one of the most typical things of Rugby are the big scrums, where players fight for positional advantage, pushing their opponents. I think it would be cool to have in a rugby team positionals to replicate that:
0-4 Props : 5 3 2 8 Thick skull, stand firm, grab GS 80k |
