I suspect MattDakka just meant it as a sarcastic version of 'of course you can ask silly questions here, man! But the answer is still no.' |

I put a smiley on my comment too. Perhaps I suspect mine was in a similar vein. |

Trees dodge all the time. Break Tackle is the best regular skill they can take.
There are three ways to win a game with flings:
- Be Nuffle's favourite: your opponent suffers a TO before he can pick up the ball, grab it, and run.
- Fly. Get that t8/t16 OTTD, or steal a TD on defence after a blitz event or a failed pick up.
- Crush'em all. Win the battle in the center of the pitch. That's where the game will be decided 9/10 times, simply because that's where your trees are, and that's where you can strike. And you want to screen so your opponent stays as long as possible in this "death zone" to give you more opportunities.
There are several ways to win this battle. Sometimes, you can sneak your way to the BC with stunty dodges or a TTM past the front line and POW him. Sometimes as well - quite often actually - the BC will at some point stand less than 4 squares away from your trees. If your tree is marked, then the odds are you will only be able to hit one of the corners of the cage. Unless you don't need BT to dodge, aka, if you roll a 5+ or... a 4+ with AG2. It's not insignificant at all.
So... When can you consider taking +AG on a tree?
- Rookie tree: don't take it. If you have enough gold, retire him and make a fresh one until he rolls a double or +MA.
- Vanilla tree (no double) with a few skills already: do you have BT? Do you have Guard and Garb already? And MulBlock on top of that? Well, you should retire your tree. Otherwise, yeah, take +AG since there ain't 6 good strength skills you can take.
- +MA tree: I would take it if he already has BT, especially if that's a MA4 tree, and I would make him by BC.
- Stat freak / doubles king: it really depends... It depends on how you've built your tree (I would consider taking the +AG on a tree with Dodge - and I actually did - but I would skip it on a JU/POMBer for instance), and it also depends on how many normal skills you already have: I would take BT nomatter what if I don't have it already, and probably Guard as well, unless again that's some sort of MA4 blodge monster.
----------------------------
Actually, I really don't know why I'm arguing. |

To be fair too though. If you don't get Agi 2 you'll NEVER get agi 3...
Just saying. |

So... we're agreeing... sorry, what's your point? |

My point is BT isn't automatically used... It's used only if you roll 4-, or 3- with AG2 (as said twice already). |

Ah - and my point was that even an Ag 2 is not going to be doing much dodging WITHOUT BT. So... |

This is why you always watch your dice for Breaktackle rolls.
There was a game recently where my ST6 Troll Stuntzi II rolled two 6s - First dodge was into 2 TZs on a Blitz action, I hit the first one with a 6. Instead of blitzing one of the two players from that TZ, I dodged again and rolled another 6. The end objective was to get better position on the blitz but now I had a shot at the BC - dodged again into two TZs and failed the GFI. Ah well...point is, if you're paying attention you can leverage break tackle into even better options. |

Didn't think this would become so hotly discussed.
I've already taken Guard. |

Now wait a minute..lets take a look at this.
AG2 on tree who BTW can reroll with out loner can now.
Dodge on a 4+ with Reroll
Catch on a 4+ with Reroll
Pick up the ball on a 4+ with reroll
All 75% chance plays.
having a tree who, if needed can actual do those things above at those odds...how is that bad? |
