This is my current team, still very new. Not a lot of skills around. Rolled double 5 for my first skill on a hobgoblin. Was assuming I'd just take Sure Hands to make him my ballcarrier, but now I'm stumped.
What should I do? +1MA? Dodge? |

If he is going to be your ball carrier, dodge is good plan long term. |

Dodge or Leader, but Leader is risky because he has no core skills. |

Dodge for helping keep him alive and to aid positioning. If you don't want to carry with the bull then let this guy do the job. |

+MA is better than Dodge if you want to use him as ball carrier and +MA is harder to get than a double when rolling for a new skill.
If you want to trim your bloated TV drop 2 rerolls and get Leader instead of +MA.
Anyway, you should drop at least 1 reroll, 4 are too many. |

This might be some misconception on my part but going from MA 6 to MA 7 doesn't feel as big especially on a player who doesn't have any skills. Maybe it's more team specific - I know on a team like Chaos with across the board MA 6 having that one MA 7 player as a key blitzer or ball carrier is a totally valuable option.
Thoughts? |

To score you need to walk 13 squares from half line of the pitch, the difference between MA 6 and MA 7 means 2 turns-score without GFIs needed, and generally a ball carrier with MA 7 will have to make less GFIs than a MA 6 one so +MA is a good stat to take. |

I find MA6 to 7 is huge for a BC.
Almost as good than AG3 to 4 even.
So if you want to make him a BC go for it IMHO |

I think at this early stage of your team's development dodge is more valuable.
It's yet to be determined if this player is your ball carrier... you may very well roll +AG on one of the bulls, or any number of other possibilities.
Think short term. A MA6 guy with dodge is probably better at carrying the ball than a 7MA one with no skills. If he does end up as your carrier, he'll be blodge surehands in no time.
Now, +AG is a whole different story... 11 on a hobgoblin is a player you can build around. +MA, not so much. |

You should start a poll. Put up the options and let FUMBBL be your guide! |

Somehow I kept reading BC as Bull Centaur. Confuzzling. |

Having a quick player other than Bulls is bound to come in handy. You will likely score with him in the next few matches and will have another chance to roll a double. If not block or sure hands is also ok at 16spp. |

+MA is pointlessly expensive on a nothing guy like this... you're paying as much as a ghoul for a guy who's like a ghoul, only with no dodge and no A access. Does he do his job almost twice as well as a rookie hobgoblin does? Because if not, you don't pay almost twice as much for him.
I don't have any especially strong opinions beyond that. Dodge is nice, but you decide for yourself how much of a priority having a blodge hobgoblin is. (Especially with no other dodge on the team...) Leader is decent; ideally you'd want it on a guy who wasn't going to get picked off as much as hobgoblins do, but you're not going to put it on a dwarf or a bull, so there you go. And block and sure hands are always worthy anyway. |
