Specifically I am talking about this fella:
https://fumbbl.com/p/team?team_id=766950
(and the side is a piling-on-less side)
But I am curious for opinions from a wider perspective. Guard is great, PO is good, SF is good, Grab is reasonable, Juggernaut and BT are good on certain big guys.
But at a certain point you have to think, each skill means the next one is further away. Surely a time comes where it isn't worth the TV, so grab a new one?
I used to do it all the time in 4.0, if a krox didn't have block by 31 he would be fired.
Does anyone do this? Should I fire my troll? |

I usually don't retire healthy players, but I would consider for that guy. |

I retire Fling trees after their first roll if it's not +MA or a double... Orc Trolls? Mines have never lived long enough. But Guard, Stand Firm, Juggernaut, PO, Break Tackle and Grab are OK choices. Whether you want to retire him or not depends on how much bloat matters in your league, and how badly you need that extra Guard. |

Makes sense, you don't really block with the guy and Piling On requires another Really Stupid roll before he's useful again.
I'd keep him, especially in [L] |

I would..
1)Fire the Troll and not buy one back
2)Buy two Lin'Orcs
-get them DP and foul the stuff that isn't guard-locked or taken out already |

I often fire Goblin Trolls after two skills if they don't get doubles but an Orc Troll can just walk around and be valuable. If the rest of the team is good, the Troll just needs Guard and he's fine.
Though, if you are cutting him for TV reasons, that works as well if the Orcs are developed and a rookie Troll won't hurt you that much. |

Seeing as you are not short of funds I'd be tempted to fire him. Guard is the only normal skill I'd really want on an Orc troll.
Things like SF, BT and Grab are ok, but not that worth the TV. Juggernaut is a waste as he'll rarely be the best choice for blitzing whilst PO is less uesful with MA4 and really stupid. |

i don't as I tend to have no money most of the time
also PO is pretty stupid in BG, unless they are minos. minos you may as well go balls to the wall crzy with, as they are minos. |

Why would you do that under LRB4 rules?
All big guys once they hit 76+ SPP automatically got doubles or +Stats for their last 3 skills.
They only had 4 skills they could take on normal rolls.
Now CRP big guys have 9 skills that they can take so no more automatic doubles for them, so the idea of firing them early to get atleast one double does make sense.
But then again when it comes to big guys I think that plan is butkus. A all normal skill up big guy is TV efficient and effective. You start throwing doubles and +stats on him then he becomes slightly more effective and a much bigger TV Bloat.
Then again, I like TV bloat and perms and 16 man rosters. So iam not really helping out here it seems. |
