I would like to thank you all for your suggestions, I wil try to sum up the ones I have rememebered (please forgive me if your suggestion is not on the list)
1. Try the butterfly cage.
2. Kill/Foul the ballcarrier
3. Add a screen in front of your cage.
4. Make sure the way to the leap is full of tacklezones/dodges so it will be hard to even get to the leap.
5. Make sure that even if the leap/strip succeeds, he won't be able to recover the ball/get away with it.
6. Refuse games when opponent has leap/strip ball (I actually did that a few times to not to have headaches xD) |

So far i have heard name of "antileapcage" but butterfly is maybe easier to remember and describe to new players. I might steal this too (but i will still mention it being antileapcage since that is its purpose) |

It's also known as the "vengabus" and the "H-cage". |

+1. You can't have it all. If you want a ST5 ballcarrier, then you don't get easy access to Block/Sure Hands as well |

They're not ST5 'out of the box'. And that team has other disadvantages .. |

put your thrower in shotgun mode too far to be blitzed. Set up catchers within range of the ez.
pass, catch, run, TD. |

Except that won't work unless you can block the leaper from one side.
i.e.
x----x
C-G
x----x
Your guard is on the right, so your Carrier C is on the left, still vulnerable to a blitz on the left. Unless you cage is on the very left of the field, he can still be attacked.
All a leaper has to do is get in and dislodge. Against other high AG teams this isn't a big thing. Because someone else picks up the ball and hopefully your cage is close to the line.
It's the brutal strength teams where picking up becomes difficult. Surely you have tackle, tentacles or something else in that cage to stop the leaper from getting out after the blitz? |

It also matters who has frenzy advantage. Also matters whether the sacker has sidestep. If you have the frenzy advantage, and sacker has no sidestep, a close to sideline cage could set up a relatively secure ball, and a surf option of the sacker. But beware, sideline cage does not work, even if the baller has sidestep or standfirm, as the ball may bounce out leaving uprotected. |

Realize that IF your opponents players are touching the players on the FRONT OF YOUR CAGE... it is NO LONGER A CAGE.
It has already been compromised. Or as you may want to think of it... it has been pre-compromised.
You need a Screen in Front of your Cage. As many have said.
And you should look through the TACTICS STICKY for the INVITING THEM IN thread.
I would try to explain it. But it is convoluted and I probably need to read it again myself.
But it works fairly well once you learn the difference in doing it right and in doing it wrong.
I find it most effective in determining just how good my opponent is very early in the game.
Ultimately it is a TRAP that looks like a shot on the ball.
The best players see the TRAP and do not attack (unless maybe they are desperate due to game conditions).
The worst players don't even see the Opening let alone the Trap... but then you know you are not facing a very good coach.
But the Above Average coaches see the shot on the ball and RUN right into the trap. |
