This makes me think of Resurrection (Resu). Everyone says that agile teams (agi) are favored, that Amazons have been dominating for years, but nothing is done to change things.
For example, if we put Amazons in tier 0, forcing them to play with 12 players, we’d see if they still act so smug with their 56.31% win rate.
We’ve balanced an agile team before: Wood Elves. They used to be overpowered (OP) with their 3+ Wardancer, but with some tweaks, they’ve become balanced. This shows that with small changes, anything is possible.
Balancing is very easy, even if, as Mattdakka said, there will always be teams that are stronger or weaker. But the goal is to not let teams rot or stay overpowered just because we’re too lazy to open an Excel file and tweak a single number.By the way, the tier system proves that the game can be balanced. With a few buffs, we see teams performing well in Resurrection, even though they struggle in ladder or championship modes.
In any case, Games Workshop listened to feedback from the last version and reacted accordingly, so our discussions aren’t in vain.Do you think it would be interesting to have small balance updates every year for obvious issues?
Coming back to redraft, we need to remember it exists because the game isn’t balanced. Normally, we shouldn’t need it. We should be able to find a balance so the game stays fun and tactical, whereas right now, at high TV, it turns into an absolute slaughter.
For example, what you proposed for Goblins—a Troll without Loner and corruption built into secret weapons—is a great idea. It won’t make them a tier 1 team, but it would make the team way more fun to play. These are small details, but they improve the enjoyment of the game so much. |
