It's probably more that those builds are more effective than a growing build can possibly be that it is matched against (take the 1k TV zon roster), so new rosters end up getting games they can't win, and had no way to build their team to win. |

So these builds win much more than other teams at their TV, right? It seems, then, that what is needed is some method of TV handicapping based on win%. |

Reading what?
Only the last couple of pages. I presume (/hope) some other mod has it covered. I mean, I doubt shadow has been able to resist! |

1) What about simple "unless you have a full roster of 16 players and at least 3 RRs (and apo if eligible), your treasury counts to TV"?
Usually grinders have loads and loads of cash. Hell Grannies is a prime example, 440k cash, no apo, 12 players.
People could dump their money, but that means that when that special blitzer dies, you might be replacing her with a Loner in the next match, then another star dies and soon your team is no more.
2) Calculate average (or median?) SPP of the three top stars in the team and make the pairings just based on that and let the inducements work out the rest. Forget the TV totally.
People with a lot of legends will face people with a lot of legends, people with rookies will face people with rookies. Problem solved.
Actually I quite like the second idea. It solves everything! |
That's a pretty cool idea. At best it solves the minmax problem, at the very least we would get to use inducements (5 or 6 apothecaries perhaps) |

I have to say I do like the idea of the 16 man requirement with 3+ RR and apoth + TV for treasury if under 16 men. It slays the J-man abuse discussion outright. It then changes the dynamics of the min/max from the killers to the uber min/max are now the teams with cheap linos. The rise of the undead, necros and Khemri min/max teams. Would bring back fouling to its proper place in Blood Bowl and give us 47 new threads to rant and rave about.
Whats not to like about this? No dont tell me Iam being forced to do some such or its not in the CRP rules. I allready read those forums. |

Just being a little facetious, sometimes it feels like you need 5 or 6 |

Purplegoo wrote: | And I was told this thread wasn't a broken record! | See, this is what I don't get. We're being told that there is a problem with minmaxing, and the definition of minmaxing appears to be that some builds are far more effective than others at their TV. This suggests that their TV isn't an accurate representation of their ability on the pitch. The obvious solution is to handicap the TV of such teams, but you don't want to do that because it would defile the sacred cow of TV-based MM, which allegedly gives us the most fair matchups, except that it doesn't when minmaxers are involved. Circular. |

Oh, good show!
But I'm not playing, it's big enough already, what with the Voodoodode engine. Someone else will bite!
Enough reading for me, especially since I can't seem to find a roflcopter. I heard there is a religion argument somewhere that will take up some popcorn... |
