Uhm...yeah...so...that was the opening game for the Norsemen. Not a great succes actually. Kinda pathetic actually. Wotfudboy did indeed take us down big time.

So.. our goals were :

1. 2-0 win
2. Skill for Koontz
3. at least 40K winnings

And we achieved :

1. 0-2 defeat
2. Dean R. Koontz dead
3. 50k winnings

We will remember to set our goals kinda low for the next match i think...maybe something like : 1. complete the game 2. have fun 3. maybe make the odd spp

Thanks for the game Wotfudboy.

Haha! In an exciting game we managed to beat mymlabans dwarfs by 1-0, thus ensuring that we at least get some points out of this. Ugly the minotaur played a very important role in this match, making practically all his WA rolls and not once causing a turnover and even as the scorer of the sole goal of the match. 90 K winnings and FF+ and a victory to show..the norsemen are once again on the track to fame!

Next stop the Chaqua Coldbloods.

Super UMT III - Final Summary

CLAN COMPLETE UMT DOUBLE
Clan Khirgah 3, A.S Roma True Elves 2
Casper's Clan Khirgah added the Super UMT to their trophy cabinet after beating Gary_Gygax's A.S. Roma True Elves 3-2 in a thrilling display of skill. The win means they become only the 2nd team to ever complete a memorable UMT and Super UMT double, this time without any of the uncertainty of last season. With Prince Moranion bolstering the Roma team - the star player always keen to preen himself in a tournament final - the pro elf fans must have thought that they had more than enough potency to claim their first trophy in four seasons. The game started and the True Elves' attack looked unstoppable, powerful young catcher Antonio Cassano scoring early on. The Clan responded well however, rendering the Prince unconscious and drawing level through veteran gutter runner Kroah Breeq. Roma attacked again and even without their hired star, the elves scored quickly, veteran catcher Bruno Conti grabbing his third touchdown of the season, and the game looked as if it would be a huge goalfest. Still in the 1st half, a great flying tackle from star blitzer Francesco "Er Pupone" Totti had looked to halt the skaven offence but the ball scattered into the vermin fans and a kind throw-in saw the ball find rookie linerat Ztetas Rishin who, once freed of his marker, made the score 2-2 and gave the advantage to Casper's Clan. After a half of no blood, the Clan started the 2nd half well with Ztetas Rishin inflicting a nasty injury on experienced lineman Rudi Voeller but an error in their drive allowed emerging star blitzer Roberto Pruzzo "Il Bomber" to sack Kroah Breeq. The ball fell to the agile emerging star storm vermin Treg Troz'tran who broke free of the ruckus however the True Elves blitzers were on hand again, this time Totti bringing down Treq well inside the Roma half. Super-agile star catcher "Aeroplanino" Montella scooped up the ball in the ensuing scramble, looking to break free & launch a pass to the waiting Pruzzo but some fine shadow marking by star gutter runner Wortah Orlegez kept the catcher under pressure and despite his usual nerves of steel, Montella fumbled! With the Khirgah offence-turned-defence in disarray, Montella recovered the ball somewhat luckily and this time leaping away to avoid the tight marking of Orlegez, looked to make the pass that would give Roma the lead. "Aeroplanino" Montella has been one of the pro elves' better performers this season but when he fumbled for the SECOND time, his own fans (and some reports say his head coach too) were baying for his blood! Star gutter runner Brotag Zralluur nipped in the steal the ball back and the Clan, relieved to be back on the attack, regrouped excellently with emerging star rat ogre Trazkut Ishghak sending another elf to the hospital with an injury. Eventually Wortah Orlegez crossed the line to put Khirgah in the lead for the first time, having used up enough of the clock to make a late Roma equaliser virtually impossible. The final whistle blew and Casper's Clan Khirgah were crowned Super Ulysses Maverick Trophy Champions! Roma fans were evidently disillusioned that their team's search for silverware continues after they had made it so far only to narrowly fail at the last hurdle. Gary_Gygax's team had the chances to win it but failed to take them and Montella especially will feel he has a lot to make up for next season.

UMT V Round 1 Summary

Div A
Pre-season favourites, Lizangeles Swamp Beasts, led by twice UMT runner-up Mully, showed expected promise with a 2-0 win over gamenutter's Mork's Maraurders. Emerging star skink Fuket was the star man here scoring both Lizangeles touchdowns although veteran blitzer Sarhbub did his best to reduce the lizardmen numbers with a brace of casualties including one near-fatal injury that the saurus apothecary was fortunately awake for! **** Another UMT veteran got off to a good start as LurkingGrue and his new team, San Josefina Earthquakes earned a costly win overcoming BillBrasky's Brasky's Iron Claws by 2-1 but suffering two fatalities that would've been three had it not been for the deft fingers of the amazon medicine man. On this showing, Brasky's Iron Claws will definitely make an impact on Division A but they need to turn their pitch-clearing abilities into touchdowns. **** The final game of Div A in round 1 saw the battle of agility versus power end in stalemate as CircularLogic's Etheral Shadows and lordchaos' Slowjokes played out a 1-1 draw. Of the two newcomer coaches, CircularLogic will probably be the happier with the result of this potentially lethal tie but both teams will need to get wins if they are to finish in the top two and reach the play-offs.

Div B
Is this the year of the amazons? It certainly seemed so as another amazon team got off to a great start. SideShowBob's Cartoonettes are looking strong as they breezed past Kyyberi's dumbfounded Blitzburgh Stealers by 2-0 to take the lead in the group. Although they didn't inflict any casualties on the heavily armoured orcs, they suffered no permanent injury themselves and their commercial manager reported an increase in season ticket sales that will surely boost their coffers and could lead to Zara the Slayer or the College of Magic aiding their cause. The Stealers on the other hand will need to re-assess their tactics after their attacks were successfully repelled and they only managed to inflict one casualty on the lightly armoured ladies. **** The legendary rivalry of orcs versus dwarves ended in an incredible 2-2 draw as Captain1821's C.C. Hammerheads played kurre's Great Wrestling Midgets. The orcs needed some sneaky moves involving steel toe-capped boots hitting dwarven nether regions to stay in the game and one such incident has left longbeard Powerslam requiring surgery to remove one of the aforementioned boots from his rear cavity. The Midgets apothecary later confirmed that the rookie's playing days are over and compensation would be paid to his family to cover the costs of his continued rehabilitation… Rookie blitzer Adrian Barnes was the key man for the orcs as he scored both of their touchdowns and after the game Head Coach Captain1821 admitted he was relieved to get some points from this game. On this performance, both this teams are certain to be in the running come the end of the group stage. **** Finally, last year's winner and the usually reliable Jinxed went missing this round, giving BiggieB's BK South Park an easy win and the Amsterdam Deadmirals a mountain to climb if they are to emulate Jinxed's previous team's achievements.

Div C
Div C saw amazons again taking the lead, as Tricktickler's Tjofaderillan outscored and outbashed mymLaban's Bashing Hammers in what could have been a very painful game for the females. The dwarves managed to make three completions that certainly sets them apart from the usual dwarven strategists but whether this will work for them remains to be seen. Veteran blitzer Ida played well for Tricktickler's amazons, scoring and inflicting a mean injury on young agile Tunnel runner that should see the dwarf runner out for the next game. Overall a very good start for UMT veteran coach Tricktickler, while newcomer mymLaban will be looking to revive the Hammers' hopes and regain some pride with a crushing win over some norse next round. **** Last season's Divisional winners and quarter-finalists Pretty Fly led by the determined Mithrilpoint failed to live up to early expectations as they continue to struggle to recapture their previous good form, losing 2-0 to Wotfudboy's Twilight Bandits. It seems like the Bandits are eager to vindicate malicious rumours that their Head Coach's achievement of reaching the final of UMT II was a one-off and their norse opponents felt the brunt of their tenacity, young powerful lineman Prav going in for a crunching tackle on lineman Dean R. Koontz that left the rookie's head a full yard away from his wretched body - a definite crowd pleaser for one half of the stadium at least! **** Trif's House of Golodhrim had been tipped as a team to watch during the pre-season warm-up and it looked like they were going to demonstrate their superiority when they went 1-0 up against Redfish's Chaqua ColdBloods through experienced lineman Faelivrin. However the aristocratic elves were stunned by the scoring power of the Coolbloods skinks, following the timely removal of their dangerous emerging star catcher Orophin, as Redfish's lizardmen came from behind to win 2-1. A great start for the Chaqua ColdBloods, lizardmen teams certainly have proved to be strong challengers in the UMT but tipsters aren't ruling out the House of Golodhrim from reaching the play-offs just yet!

Div D
The two favourites in Division D met in the first week and neither BiggieB's Blocking with no Luck nor bloodelf's Bloodspit managed to prevail over the other, the game ending in a 1-1 stalemate. Both Head Coaches will probably be happy with the result as they should face lesser opponents in the remaining rounds although I'm sure some of those opponents will disagree and we could yet see some surprises! **** Perhaps one early surprise was Piglets 2's 2-1 victory over Slick's Footsie Ballers. Many UMT fans, having been brought up on the hapless performances of BB-Pad's Tuck Shoppe Raiders, were expecting the soultoken's halfling to provide plenty of entertainment and blood before finishing decimated and bottom of the Division. Clearly these flings have other ideas and their future opponents had better take note! A disappointing result for Slick's professional elves as they really needed to win this game and bring on a few of their youngsters to compete against some of the more established sides in the division. It's not over for them by any means but this result will make their lives much harder. **** Finally Da_Todfatha's Pain State! earned themselves their easiest, some (who wish to remain anonymous) say only, win of the season as reality's Bloodbeast's were recalled to their homelands to deal with some unfortunate happenings. Can the orcs build on this promising start?

Spurting Newz - Interview with a Swamp-ire?

<Tomb Brokejaw> Swamp Master, thanks for agreeing to this interview.
<Swamp Master> k
<Tomb Brokejaw> What are your thoughts on the competition of the UMT this season?
<Swamp Master> You mean Division A, belonging to the Lizangeles Swamp Beasts?
<Tomb Brokejaw> Sure, um, whatever. How do you think the Swamp Beasts stack up?
<Swamp Master> The division is getting pretty bashy with only one elf team. Just surviving will be a key, as evidenced by Grues 3 lost girls in week #1.
<Swamp Master> However, The Swamp Master is sure superior coaching ability will again get us into the playoffs
<Tomb Brokejaw> (repositions jawbone after picking it up off the floor) Im Sure it will, coach. The Beasts are an early favorite with their experience getting to the playoffs.
<Tomb Brokejaw> who will your biggest competition be?
<Swamp Master> The Swamp Master doesn’t expect any competition, but do you mean who does The Swamp Master think will come in 2nd?
<Tomb Brokejaw> of course coach, what bad speech I have, my apologies...
<Swamp Master> Dwarves are always tough, especially in a short season. Grue has a nice team, but all it takes is a dwarf mauling to knock them out of contention
<Swamp Master> so the Swamp Master says Lord Chaos' group of thugs
<Tomb Brokejaw> Speaking of blood, there seems to be a abundance of fresh blood in the UMT this season, new coaches and new teams, what do you do to prepare?
<Swamp Master> This is true. Except for Grue, who the Swamp Master spanks regularly, I haven’t had the opportunity to beat this fresh crop. Game film is always nice ..
<Swamp Master> but the Swamp Master finds strong cursing in the 1st few turns to be enough of an intimidation factor.
<Tomb Brokejaw> We've all been privy to that...good call.
<Swamp Master> heh
<Tomb Brokejaw> So tell us what can we expect for the Beasts this season? Any chance we'll see a Krox? What players should we be keeping an eye on?
<Swamp Master> Dingleberry is the Swamp Master’s up and comer. With AG4, he ought to be able to squirm through the best of defenses.
<Swamp Master> the Swamp Master has no plans of EVER hiring a dumb Krox.
<Tomb Brokejaw> Well with too super-strong saurus, even if one has a bum knee from what I hear, you prolly don't need one, eh?
<Swamp Master> the Swamp Master uses unique strength training programs to get our Saurus up to Krox strength without the negative side effects
<Swamp Master> plus the UMT has yet to test for steroids, right?
<Tomb Brokejaw> Indeed, indeed.
<Tomb Brokejaw> Any prediction on this round vs. Mork Marauders?
<Swamp Master> as long as the refs are watching over things we should be able to have our way.
<Swamp Master> Of course the Swamp Master’s been witness to a few blind refs in my time
<Tomb Brokejaw> Well they all passed their physicals, so we'll look to see all infractions punished, severely. Surprised)
<Swamp Master> ATM the Swamp Master is more interested in scouting out the other divisions to see who will beat me in the finals this year
<Tomb Brokejaw> care to comment on anyone else in the league? Bloodspit is back, everyone else is new I believe.
<Swamp Master> Division C is a bitch
<Swamp Master> trif, tricktickler, mithrilpoint, wotfudboy
<Swamp Master> the list of strong coaches goes on
<Tomb Brokejaw> that's true, and as you pointed out, UMT is pretty bashy this go round, so anything could happen
<Swamp Master> the Swamp Master was sorry to see celas not make it back in Div A
<Tomb Brokejaw> yes his team moved up and he decided to rest his stable. unfortunate indeed.
<Lame Music begins to play…>
<Tomb Brokejaw> That’s all our time! This has been Tomb Brokejaw with the Spurting Newz, an interview with the coach of the Lizangeles Swamp Beasts early favorites to finally win a UMT Season.
