Captain has been missing for 11 days now. Rumour has it that he by mistake saw Mimmi, the star catcher of my team, naked in the locker room. A sight like that can intimidate even the toughest of men.

Oops, sorry guys I missed these posts.

Well Captain has been away for 17 days now but I'm reluctant to forfeit the final. The next UMT season doesn't start until the end of March so that's not a problem but obviously your team is locked at the moment SideshowBob. Are you happy to extend the deadline for another 2 weeks and if Captain isn't back by the end of February the Cartoonettes get the Trophy? If not, well it wouldn't be an unfair decision for forfeit now (besides I'm not going to argue with Mimmi, naked or otherwise!!). Let me know.

Cheers,
Pad

No worries, the girls are quite busy atm watching the olympics. And it would feel a little wrong to get the trophy by a walk over both in the quarter final and the final!

So let's just wait for a while to see if Caps shows up, or if Sk8bcn knows what's going on.

Let me tell you the truth about this!

The first shock was when Mimmi appeared naked in front of me. But the big shock was when she started show off like a body builder. After that, I found myself in the hospital. I couldn't talk for 5 days! Yesterday doctors said that I'm better and I can meet my team and play the final...

Ok game over, Captain won it. Cheers to the fans that invaded the pitch and attacked 7 of my players when my offence was about to start in second half.

Made it kinda tricky to score... Smile

But Captain1821 played well and deserved the win, he beat me in the group as well...

So...time to kick up a new season. The ladies want revenge!

UMT V Final - the Road to the Mavericks Stadium
Well folks, the final of UMT V is almost here and fans should be in for a cracking game with Captain1821's powerful orcs, C.C Hammerheads taking on SideshowBob's tenacious amazons, the Cartoonettes. There still remains some doubt over whether the final will ever take place as Captain1821 and his orcs have been hard to track down and there are plenty of rumours of large betting syndicates using foul play to prevent the greenskins from reaching the Mavericks Stadium and taking their chances in the final. Amazon coach SideshowBob has declared that his girls want to win the trophy fair and square so it's case of hoping for the best now!

While we're waiting for news on a date and time for the final, let's have a look at how both teams got here:

Quarter-finals
The Cartoonettes had progressed through the group stage with an excellent 4-0-1 record losing only their final opponents C.C. Hammerheads. In the first knock-out round they faced bloodelf's Bloodspit, a tough chaos team that had won their group with an unbeaten 3-2-0 record. The amazons however were awarded a technical walkover thanks to the ill-fated disappearance of chaos coach bloodelf and the fact that he has not yet been found has certainly raised suspicions of dirty tricks and began the current rumours of the betting syndicates.

Winners of their group also with a 4-0-1 record, the C.C. Hammerheads faced last season's runners-up Lizangeles Swamp Beasts. The lizards, who finished their season with an unspectacular 3-0-2 record, were looking to take their coach Mully to his 3rd consecutive UMT final and maybe lift the trophy this time. It wasn't to be however as the Hammerheads took no chances against the superior lizardmen team and the orcs used their extensive repertoire of illegal ploys to whittle down their opponents early on. Diminished by the crafty steel toe-caps of the orcs, the Swamp Beasts fought on bravely and only a last gasp winner for the greenskins prevented the game from going into overtime where the speed of the skinks might have won it.

The Cartoonettes would have a their work cut out against their next opponents, the Chaqua Coldbloods. Redfish's lizards had finished 2nd in their group with an excellent 4-0-1 record and had reached the Semis via a testing game against CircularLogic's Etheral Shadows who had come into the knockout stage with an unbeaten 2-3-0 record. Despite the Shadows' impressive defence, the lizards dominated the off-form dark elves and ran out comfortable 2-0 winners. CircularLogic's team seemed devoid of confidence so it was no surprise that they struggled to compete and by the end of the game they were lucky not to suffer more injuries as they were hit repeatedly by the stocky sauri.

The C.C. Hammerheads faced the daunting task of taking on Tjofaderillan in Semis. Tricktickler's amazons had reached the last four thanks to a superb 4-0-1 record in the league phase and a light passage through the Quarter-finals thanks to Slick's Footsie Ballers. The Ballers had qualified for the play-offs despite finishing 3rd with a 3-0-2 record in their group due to the withdrawal of the dwarves, Blocking with No Luck. Barely into the game, the understrength elves were quickly scared off the field by an early injury and it has been said that they have refused to step foot on a Blood Bowl pitch since, while their fans are now following a team of tiddlywinkers!

Semi-finals
The match between the Cartoonettes and Redfish's Chaqua Coldbloods was much closer than the final 2-0 scoreline suggested with both side unable to thoroughly dictate their opponents. What can be said is that the amazons took the most of their opportunities both in terms of scoring and inflicting damage as they meted out three casualties with no reply, the death of Bea coming from misfortunate rather than malice! So the Coldbloods proved to be another lizardman team to falter in the play-offs due to an off day although Chaqua coach Redfish refused to blame his players and took full responsibility in the post-match conference.

C.C. Hammerheads took on Tricktickler's the vastly superior Tjofaderillan who had added star Zara the Slayer to bolster their chances of making it to the final. However as orc coach Captain1821 pointed out in his post-match interview, his opposite number made a crucial mistake in his defensive line-up and Zara was introduced to increasingly notorious Hammerhead spiked boot! Not to be out-done in the celebrity stakes, the orcs had their own star player join their team and Nobbla Blackwart put his chainsaw to good use against the lightly armoured amazons - how the referee managed to miss that bloody chainsaw for most of the game is anyone's guess! Captain1821 was delighted his team had such a cushy route to the final while Tjofaderillan coach Tricktickler was furious with his team's incompetence on the day and has since announced he & his teams would be taking a break from the UMT - hopefully he'll come back revitalised for a fresh crack at the Trophy.

Ok folks, well that's how the two teams got here. And I'm just receiving word that the final is in progress! Let's go over to the Mavericks Stadium now and we'll be back after the game to look at how things went.

The UMT V Final
Well after much concern that the C.C. Hammerheads had fallen foul to the vicious underworld as a result of attempted bet-rigging, UMT fans were hugely delighted that the Final was at last able to be played although many missed the big event due to little notice being given - no doubt a necessary tactic to avoid interception by the secret betting syndicate. Captain1821's C.C. Hammerheads featured a duet of goblin stars with both Nobbla Blackwart and Bomber Dribblesnot picking up tidy sums to help turn the match in the greenskins favour. Meanwhile SideshowBob's Cartoonettes had hired Zara the Slayer, who obviously was unfazed by her rough treatment by the Hammerheads in the Semi-Finals - out for revenge, perhaps? The orcs received first and moved steadily up the field. The Hammerheads steadily removed amazons with their superior strength & their infamous boots although the Cartoonettes were no stranger to giving their fallen opponents a crafty kick when the referee wasn't looking, and in fact one of the orcs' specialists of "da dif'runt rulz" (as they call them) was an early victim much to SideshowBob's relief no doubt! The amazons were unable to stop the orc offence and the greenskins rumbled the ball over into endzone late in the 1st half. The 2nd half started with an unfortunate (or timely, depending on who you were rooting for!) pitch invasion that decimated the Cartoonette's attack plans. They did manage to retain the ball but were kept in their own end for most of the 2nd half. With the time running out and the trophy slipping from their grasp they tried an audacious pass to find an equaliser but the orcs' man-marking ensured that the Cartoonettes receiver was suitably distracted to drop the catch. The previous encounter between these two sides during the group phase saw the orcs come out victorious so perhaps it was no surprise that the game ended 1-0 to the Hammerheads. There were raucous cheers for Captain1821 and his orcs while SideshowBob genially accepted the defeat but vowed for revenge and declared his team ready for UMT VI.

Oh, and Manifest Destiny would like to be in the SUMT V as well... heh. Just noticed that they weren't on the Roster.
