Well, after over 20 years of playing this game off and on it has finally happened - I have come to terms with Blood Bowl dice luck and my enjoyment of the game has increased exponentially.
It was a simple paradigm shift, the real secret of Blood Bowl, and I don't know why it took so long:
I started holding myself accountable for losing games instead of blaming luck.
As soon as I did that some interesting changes happened in a short period of time:
* I've always been a decent, non-serious player, averaging about 40%-30%-30% in FUMBBL and tabletop play. I've suddenly become a pretty good one; in the past 30 games I have gone 60%-25%-15% in [B] and league play.
* My luck has "miraculously" gotten a lot better, both real and perceived. Real because I'm playing smarter and mitigating it much better, perceived because I quit focusing on all the bad luck I was having (while ignoring my opponent's bad luck).
* The far-and-away biggest change is that I have suddenly started enjoying games when I lose. There are now only two conditions under which I lose: 1.) My opponent out-played me, I learned something and became a better player, or 2.) I out-played my opponent, he got lucky and it made for a good match.
A lot of you have already been through this transformation and a probably even a jovial few of you started out this way, but I wanted to share my conversion for those who are struggling with it. Certainly new players face it, but it's never too late - even some of us old dogs can still learn new tricks! |

I went through this once before too. Remember that luck alone has the ability to decide a game..... it just happens once every 10-20 games or so.
Now what are your thoughts about fouling......
