Why don't we open the Royal Rookie Rumble, a ranked mini-tournament for rookie teams only, for box teams as well?
Rookie teams are no different in both divisions, they only go into a different environment in open play and are therefor often chosen and developed differently.
Benefit: Another fun tournament for box coaches (it is something completely different than the Black Box Brawl and therefor won't harm it) and more teams applying to the RRR = it can kick off more often!
There might be technical issues though (I don't know anything about that) or a general principle not to merge the divisions any further.
(So far, box and ranked teams only face each other at on occasion: The FUMBBL Cup, last and probably most prominent major tournament of the year.)

Can't see why not (except for the time it cost Christer and the tournament organisers which is always enough reason not to). |

I don't see the point to be honest.
Why would Box teams need a rookie tournament format when they can just activate and play anyway? |

RRR makes it possible for rookie teams to meet rookie team in their first game, instead of a min-maxed team I guess |

Did we not just defeat the entire point of the box?
If you want to pick, perhaps use an R team? |

RRR means no picking and no min-maxing in the first game(s) - and the chance to earn a title! Just a good start for any team.
Of course a lot of teams are more suited for an early competition than others, but that's the same for box and ranked as well. It offers box teams something they could not have so far (a title and protection from min-maxed teams on the rookie hunt).
Edit:
There are of course teams built directly for the RRR (starting without certain positionals to get more inducement money for example). Still, this should not have further effect on the teams' careers neither in the box nor ranked, as far as I see. |

RRR is not picking, and it does not break with the Blackbox idea:
