What is people's opinions on frenzy on saurus?
Probably only one per team, for box or general league
Build would be either as a late skill on blitzer, eg block, mighty blow, tackle, break tackle, then frenzy
Or for a more focused build: block, frenzy, stand firm
Advantages:
- sometimes people don't notice and you can surf them turn1
- general surfing / surf threat / narrows the pitch for opponent
- extra block dice for moar cas
- potentially helps 1turn scoring attempts
Downsides:
- getting out of position
- risk of being counter surfed
- requires a more in-contact play style, to give assists (negative synergy with your other break tacklers?) |

Great idea, after Block and MightyBlow. Strange as it sounds, but it could potentially improve the positioning of the team. Lets assume the opppoent marks the Saurii, and you want to move towards the goal line. If you have 2 with frenzy, you could probably bash and push your way, and proceed 1-2 squares a turn. That is all you need with the speed of the skinks. So i would argue there are strong positional reasons for doing so. I would prefer some frenzy before i consider BreakTackle for that reason. Not that BreakTackle is bad, but blocking is less risky than dodging in general (rules are written like that). |

Yeah, i think you missed the most important reason for frenzy - more efficient freeing up of other saurus via blocking and position. |

True, but Break Tackle grants way more freedom of movement and more unpredictability.
Frenzy is great indeed, but if you need to disengage to move in a totally different direction Break Tackle is better.
It boils down to playstyle. |

As a lizard coach, I like having versatility with my saurri. Thus having one with frenzy is always a plus, as he opens up options and tactics like you stated. The fear factor is nice as well, plus it can help chain opponents into your other saurri for more blocks (my lizards tend to have pillow fights so the more blocks I make the better chance of having rocks in the pillows, in theory).
Plus, if you can grow a monster like this guy, your opponent is never safe. |

yep, always awesome when it happens.
break tackle and juggernaut a plus, as well as another saurus with grab to set it up. |

Having move 7+ definitely helps with Frenzy players if you sometimes want them to return to your line after blitzing, and also to give you better coverage of the sidelines. |

Ok, you're all very positive towards it then
I'd expected some people to weigh in about the risks of getting frenzy-baited, pulled out of position, overcommitted etc
Maybe we all assume in theory we can play well enough to avoid that |

Further questions then:
What is your preferred build for a frenzy saurus?
Would having a frenzy significantly impact the build of the rest of the team? (I feel its synergistic with guard-saurus and sidestep-skinks)
At what approx level of development /TV size would you say frenzy is preferred? |

What Dakka said but I'd vote for Stand Firm over Guard. It's useful in the positioning game, but also prevents the revenge surf |

If you want to use him as a Blitzer, fend isn't a bad idea fifth or sixth. He's going to get blocked reasonably often, and fend can leave him free to go blitz something. |

AgreEd. But I think I would go...
Block stand firm. Frenzy. Break Tackle
The stand firm not only prevents the Revenge surf... it also helps in positioning potentially. He can hold the edge. And it keeps him from being pushed out of position pre-surf. |
