Final Standings in the Bretonnia Conference

Congratulations to the Serpents Coast Scavengers for winning the Conference!

In 2nd and 3rd place respectively were the Uzkulak Pirates (last season's Conference champion) and Frostheim United.

The Bretonnia Inter-Conference Shield team are, in order:
4. Barak Varr Goldlords
5. Nidhoggstad Icedragons
6. Chupayotl Shark Toads
7. Gaen Vale Starlights
8. Amazon Isle Rangers

Commiserations to the Tor Elyr Hurricanes, who are automatically relegated, while the Dark Lands Predators will be representing Bretonnia in the playoffs.

From alone in 2nd to 6th in the final game - a short competitive league can do that. Tough fall!

And to keep the drama maximized, in a brutal (9 casualty!) game, the 'Jacks and 'Rush TIED! That keeps them tied for 1st, now at 7 points each, but the 'Jacks sitting with a somewhat comfortable tie-breaker lead...
    1. 7 pts (+6) Nilfheim Lumberjacks, BlueDevil420
    2. 7 pts (+2) Black Chasm Rush, gjopie
    3. 6 pts (+3.5) Pillars of Nagash, Nablah (to play #5 NBE)
    4. 5 pts (+2.5) Lahmia Undead United, SzieberthAdam
    5. 5 pts (+2.5) New Bretonnia Expatriates, Smeat (to play #3 PoN)
    6. 5 pts (+2) Wasteland Vagabonds, Vesikannu (to play #7 FPLR)

o Teams in italics are done with the season, their points final.
o Teams in bold have their last game to play.
In short, that's potential bad news for everyone involved (those two included!), as it means one more team still in the hunt for those top 3 seats.

The Lumberjacks alone have at least locked for the post-season, and are the odds-on favorite to take the Conference overall if the Pillars do not win their game against last 2 years' Albion champion Ex-Pats. Well played!

The Pillars are the only team to control their own fate - win and they take Albion outright; tie and they bump the Expats and are looking odds-on for the tie-breaker for one of the 2 remaining spots; lose and they're out.

The Expats and Vags both sit at 5 points, so it's "must win" (and Pillars lose!) for either or both just to have a shot at the tiebreaker, which currently shows 3 teams holding 2-2.5 pts (and the 'Jacks at 6).

So the 'Rush, altho' currently in 2nd place, is quite aware how uncertain that position is!

The Expats v. Pillars game is about 1/2 hour from this time tomorrow (Tuesday, 1 PM pacific, 2000 UTC) - looking forward to see how Albion shakes out!

The matchup between the Lumberjacks and the Rush turned out to be a crazy one.

The 'Jacks brought Helmut and a babe to the match, but the Rush were receiving and started out with a SI on one of the linefodder. The lumberjacks soon retaliated and were dishing out the damage too a sideline swoop was nipped in the bud by the lumberjacks, but after backpaddling for a turn, while Helmut sawed the RO out of the match, they took advantage of some bad positioning and brought it in for the T6 score. KO rolls are in favor of the Rush and with 7 (or 8?) vs 9 it doesn't look good for the Lumberjack drive. A touchback puts them back into the game and with a sideline rush turns passing play down the middle they equalise in T7. Out comes the Rush oneturner and...FAILS! All the while during the first half the blood kept flowing, mostly out of the Rush' veins.

Outnumbering the rush in the 2nd half the 'jacks keep doing what they've been doing all game, messing up their opponents. With only 8 players left against the possible 5 of the rush, the lumberjack coach chickens out and stalls out the half. In the last two turns they niggle the Rush star blitzer and when they put a Gutterrunner in the crowd they show how its done, killing him instantly. With 3 players left the Rush set up on the front line only to get a Quicksnap. A pass, handoff, 2 dodges and 2 gfi's later and the score is TIED! 2-2 but what a mess!

Everything in Albion is still up for grabs!

Darn! Seems unlikely I can be around te watch that game. A win for the Expats or a draw would be excellent, I want me that silver star! So...go Smeat Wink disclaimer: don't win too big, that would suck!

Either the Pillars or the Expats are going to overtake us, so we really need the Vagabonds to lose or draw (and the Lowdown Rats to do a fellow rat a favour!). Maybe we could lend the Rats some players...

This was painful game to coach but is a great game to watch, tooth-and-nail and fang-and-claw and fist-and-boot and bash-and-dash the whole time, with a stunning against-the-odds tie at the end with only 3(!) rats left to receive the final T16 kick.

Nicely pulled out of the proverbial hat, and a bitter rat-sized pill for coach BlueDevil, demonstrating why all coaches hate rats, even rat coaches!

A must-watch: https://fumbbl.com/p/match?id=3544717

Against Khemri, it's far from impossible for the Expats to win and still lose too many skinks (and others?!) to win the tie-breaker. Lot of BB still to be played before we have a final 3.

I do know that if the Rush squeaks thru (pun possibly intended), they're going to be a serious threat to any who face them, and to take the whole thing.

No Bad Luck to all, may the best coaches/teams win!

PS: Epic game between the Rush and the Lumberjacks Smile. So epic they both will be hurting much in the playoffs, if they make it there.

Especially because if I do make it, I'll probably be facing the Pirates in the first round!

But yeah, it was an epic game, and a lot of fun. Loved the final Quick Snap!
