It's all over, Elves of Albion have taken the 11th iteration of the Bretonnia Conference with a 2-1 win over the Nilfheim Lumberjacks.

Was it deserved? Oh hell no, but getting what we don't deserve is what elves are all about. \o/

We lost both blitzers and a catcher for the next game so expect a brief cup run Wink

Final Standings in the Bretonnia Conference

Congratulations to the Elves of Albion for winning the Bretonnia Conference. They add that title to their Albion Conference win from Season IX, and I'm sure they'll be hoping they can go one better this time and win a Challenge Cup game!

In 2nd and 3rd place respectively were the Zhaar Doom Bringers and the returning Nilfheim Lumberjacks. The Doom Bringers have only just been promoted to the Bretonnia Conference, having won the Kislev Conference last season, which is a great achievement. Although Kislev winners have gone on to make it into the Cup in their first season before, none have made it very far in the Cup, so good luck trying to improve that record. The Nilfheim Lumberjacks are an old prestigious team, having won the Cup twice, finished as runners-up once, and won three Conference titles. They'll always be a formidable opponent in the Cup. Congratulations and good luck to all of them.

The Bretonnia Inter-Conference Shield team are, in order:
4. Serpents Coast Scavengers
5. Scalded Delta Dogz
6. Athel Loren BBoDT
7. Turov's Infected
8. Arkhan Faraohs

They have a total of 23 points, so we'll see whether that's enough to get them first choice in the Shield or not.

Both the Marienburg Magpies and Lahmia Undead United finished with 3 points and a tie-breaker score of -4, so it comes down to (TD for + half CAS for), which the Magpies just edge. So the Magpies will be in the relegation play-offs, and Undead United will be automatically relegated to Kislev and will take part in the Kislev Plate. (All relegations are pending decisions on teams staying/leaving the league)

Final Standings in the Albion Conference

Congratulations to the Doom Glades Rangers for winning the Albion Conference in their first season in the top two Conferences. A great achievement!

In 2nd and 3rd place respectively were Palinam Diadochi and Castle Drachenfels. Neither team has ever made it into the Challenge Cup before, with their previous best finishes of 4th for both of them. That means a completely new set of teams entering the Cup from Albion, which is refreshing! Congratulations and good luck to all of them.

The Albion Inter-Conference Shield team are, in order:
4. Diseased Wasters
5. Frostheim United
6. Wasteland Vagabonds
7. Western Oblast Raiders Emsk
8. Orgrimmar Hammers

They have a total of 22 points compared to Bretonnia's 23, so Bretonnia will get the first pick of matches in the second round of the Shield.

The Remnants of Kriegfeld finished 9th and will be taking part in the relegation play-offs. The Doom Glade Swamp-Risers were bottom, and so are automatically relegated (unless they are spared by the League Committee due to team shortages), and will take part in the Kislev Plate this off-season.

(All relegations are pending decisions on teams staying/leaving the league)

In their very last match the Raiders just made sure that they avoid the drop and even managed to sneak out of the relegation.
Now lets see what this Inter-Conference Shield is about.

Final Standings in the Kislev Conference

The last conference to finish is Kislev. Here is how it finished:

Winning the conference comfortably were the Malice of Karond Kar - they will be going (back) up, and will get to choose which conference to enter next season. They will be joined in automatic promotion by second placed Grimjuice Renegades (a great achievement for what is essentially a beefed up stunty team!). Congratulations to both teams.

Finishing in the playoff positions were the Clar Karond Exiles (3rd) and Quenelles Carnival (4th). While the rest of the Conference takes part in the Kislev Plate, they will be in the playoffs with the 9th placed teams from Albion & Bretonnia (the Remnants of Kriegfeld and the Marienburg Magpies).

The remaining teams finished as follows:
5th: Sabre Mountain Titans
6th: Eight Peaks Screaming Bell
7th: Greenleaf Gladiators
8th: Der Green Tide Yoof Sekshun

They'll be in the Kislev Plate, and will probably stay in Kislev next season. As always, if we have dropouts in the main divisions, we may promote a few more teams - we'll have to see how it goes.

On to the cups! They'll be set up shortly.

This season's draft was an all-elf affair, with the Doom Glades Rangers facing off against the Elves of Albion. The draft hall has now been cleared out, and the results are in (although we're still searching for a few Elves of Albion staff members who mysteriously went missing during the draft - the Rangers' assassins deny all knowledge of their disappearance):

Round 1
Quenelles Carnival automatically drafted to Albion.
Arkhan Faraohs transferred to Albion.
Athel Loren BBoDT stay in Bretonnia.

Before the draft even started, we knew that the Quenelles Carnival would be going to Albion (due to the one race per conference rule) after they came second in a tight Playoff. The Rangers then had the first proper pick, after Team Albion won the Inter-Conference Shield in the special final, and with it they transferred the Arkhan Faraohs over to Albion. With their first pick, the Elves of Albion chose to keep Athel Loren BBoDT in Bretonnia - a conference they won two seasons in a row (IX and X) - so Athel Loren went from doing the drafting for Bretonnia last season, to being this year's first pick for them!

Round 2
Western Oblast Raiders Emsk stay in Albion.
Grimjuice Renegades drafted to Bretonnia.

The Rangers' second act was to keep the Western Oblast Raiders Emsk in Albion for their second season in the Conference. The Elves of Albion then drafted the second of the new teams, the Grimjuice Renegades, to Bretonnia. The Renegades came second in Kislev last season, earning their place in the big leagues as a result, and also reached the semi-finals of the Kislev Plate (where they were knocked out by the eventual winners).

Round 3
Orgrimmar Hammers stay in Albion.
Apuccini Avalanches automatically drafted to Bretonnia.
Scalded Delta Dogz stay in Bretonnia.

We had the first of the "doubled up" races in the third round, as the Rangers chose to keep the Orgrimmar Hammers in Albion for another season (the Hammers took part in two of the four 2-pointer games in the Shield this season, winning one and losing the other). This sent the returning Apuccini Avalanches to Bretonnia for the first time in their history (they had previously only featured in Albion and Kislev). The Elves then evened the conferences up by keeping the Scalded Delta Dogz in Bretonnia, where they have spent most of their time and have recorded their best finish: 2nd, in Season X.

Round 4
Serpents Coast Scavengers transferred to Albion.
Gotland Gorers drafted to Bretonnia.
Wasteland Vagabonds automatically stay in Albion.

Two of the teams holding Royal Pardons were drafted in the fourth round. First, the Serpents Coast Scavengers were transferred over to Albion (where they have only spent one of their nine total seasons in the league so far). Then, the returning Gotland Gorers (who don't have a Pardon) were drafted to Bretonnia - the Gorers have spent more time in Albion, but have been more successful in Bretonnia - forcing the Wasteland Vagabonds to stay in Albion. Both the Scavengers and the Vagabonds have Royal Pardons, though, so both might choose to move out of Albion later on.

Round 5
Zhaar Doom Bringers transferred to Albion.
Frostheim United automatically transferred to Bretonnia.
Remnants of Kriegfeld transferred to Bretonnia.

It was all change in the fifth round, with a flurry of transfers. The Zhaar Doom Bringers (who continued the tradition of a strong rookie season after winning Kislev, making it into the Challenge Cup) were transferred over to Albion. Can they buck the trend of previous seasons, and succeed again in their second attempt? This move automatically transferred Frostheim United over to Bretonnia, where they are probably more at home. Frostheim are the third team with a Royal Pardon though, which means there are now Pardons on both sides of the draft board. Finally, the Remnants of Kriegfeld were then transferred to Bretonnia. This is the first season in a while without three undead teams in the draft, and if the Remnants hadn't won the Playoffs, we might have gone from 3 to 0 as they were all relegated!

Round 6
Diseasted Wasters stay in Albion.
Turov's Infected automatically stay in Bretonnia.

With the final pick of the draft, the Rangers chose to keep the number one ranked Diseased Wasters in Albion - a conference they have won twice before - which means that Turov's Infected will play in Bretonnia again this season.

Round 7
Malice of Karond Kar choose Bretonnia.
Nilfheim Lumberjacks automatically transferred to Albion.

Once the draft board was almost complete, last season's Kislev winners, the Malice of Karond Kar, entered the hall and surveyed the board. In the end, they chose to join Bretonnia (where they've spent 3 seasons in the past), which sent the heavyweight Nilfheim Lumberjacks to play in Albion. The stage was now set for the Royal Pardon holders to make their moves - there were four holders (including the Malice of Karond Kar), of which only two could move, so there was the potential for disappointment!

Royal Pardons
Serpents Coast Scavengers switch to Bretonnia
Turov's Infected switch to Albion

In the end, only one Pardon was used, as the Scavengers looked to return to Bretonnia where they belong. Heading the other way in their place is Turov's Infected, which means Albion will be Nurgle-heavy in Season XII!

So this is how the two conferences look for next season:

Albion
Doom Glades Rangers
Quenelles Carnival
Arkhan Faraohs
Western Oblast Raiders Emsk
Orgrimmar Hammers
Wasteland Vagabonds
Zhaar Doom Bringers
Diseased Wasters
Nilfheim Lumberjacks
Turov's Infected

Bretonnia
Elves of Albion
Athel Loren BBoDT
Grimjuice Renegades
Apuccini Avalanches
Scalded Delta Dogz
Gotland Gorers
Frostheim United
Remnants of Kriegfeld
Malice of Karond Kar
Serpents Coast Scavengers

As always, share your thoughts on the draft! We'll keep the post-season tour going for a little while longer, and then we'll be ready to start Season XII!

If I am not mistaken we have maximum diversity in Bretonnia with 10 different races, which is great. Albion is pretty bashy, in fact one of the bashiest OWCC conferences I can remember, but that doesn't have to be a negative for the agile teams.

Athel Loren BBoDT and their coach are ready. Bring it on!

Blimey! At least only one of the lost players had any skills, I suppose.

Yeah I elected not to use the apo on the GR, saving it in case the s3 GR or claw blitzer took a shot. Thankfully they didn't. But the claw guy got mvp and skilled (cpomb baby) and the other blitzer also skilled and picked up claw. So overall a successful game Smile
